One of my favorite parts about being a photographer isn’t always the sessions—sometimes it’s the people I meet in between.

On my way out of Glacier after an engagement session, we stopped at the park sign so I could film a quick video. That’s when we met Zach and Shea.

They were so excited about the adventure ahead of them that I had to ask if I could take a quick photo. Their story is one I’ll remember for a long time. Zach is from Anchorage, Alaska, and Shea is from Tennessee. They met last summer, she fell in love with both Alaska and him, and this summer they’re making the drive north together to start their next chapter.

With their dog and cat along for the ride, they’ve spent 11 days road-tripping from Tennessee through the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Glacier, Banff, and Jasper—camping every step of the way.

Moments like this remind me why I love what I do. Photography takes me to incredible places, but it’s the people I meet along the way that make those places unforgettable.
