One day you're gonna get an inquiry for a reception between two badass crime scene photographers. They're going to want to hire you for the day at Margaritaville. It's very important you say yes. 🍹

Natalie and Becca eloped privately a while back and wanted to have a party for friends and family here. This is how I learned that Margaritaville came to KC. They had a live band and had their first dance to the most beautiful rendition of "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls that I've ever heard.

They BOTH had these incredible suits. They BOTH come to the marriage with sons named Owen. They're two peas in a pod and very obvious best friends and it was such a great way to celebrate my elopement season started.

Part of my move to more intimate weddings and elopements was my desire for things to feel slower. More meaningful. Real. (And this is not saying that larger weddings cannot be these things). It has lead to me taking time to frame portraits or scenes of wedding guests who are super important to them. Something to look back on and say "that's my family." with a little proud smile.

This weekend, I photographed Sarah and Chris's big day at . It is a wedding venue that offers free weddings to clients. When you say "I do" you get to ring their bell tower, during portraits you can hop skip and jump over to the vineyard, the space is a white box so there's so much room to decorate it exactly the way you want.

Y'all, it's kind of venue wedding photographers dream of.

Keep your eyes peeled for a blog post because I'm trying to be better and I never want to shut up about this day.

Green is SO BACK baby.

These two were married late last year and had a private little ceremony, so to celebrate we took some newlywed photos!

The Nelson was so busy this day, but thanks to the powers of perseverance and a little bit of photoshop it looked like we were the only ones there.

If you get the chance to photograph a polyamorous triad as a powerful mafia family, you take it.

Lindsey, Drew, and Chris were united as one family this past weekend at the Hey Hey Club! It was a gorgeous day with the most thoughtful details and highlights.

- They researched their individual genealogies in order to create a family crest. The crest was featured in their handfasting ceremony and on Chris's cufflinks.

- They were married inside of J. Reiger and we were able to sneak into the barrel room for a couple of epic family/wedding party photos.

- The speak easy they decided on for their wedding had the perfect laid back and dark victorian vibes that matched their personalities so well

- Their ceremony was intimate and with a wedding with under 50 guests, the place felt packed and absolutely alive with the folks who have supported them on this journey.

If you ever get the chance to do exactly what you want in order to have the family you've always dreamed of - do it. And if it's only half as beautiful and intimate as the Fosters' event was then you've done a damn good job.

Nothing feels better than knowing that specializing in intimate, small ceremonies was the absolute right move. I still will photograph the big parties, but getting married in a hotel suite with your kids and your best friends is just so sweet & beautiful.

Also - three cheers for this bride dress. It was absolutely perfect for her and I live for a non-traditional wedding dress moment.

I've been trying to post photos to my personal feed all week from my computer and it makes my whole browser freeze, so y'all get these sneak peeks before my personal feed even did.⁠

My mother-in-law got married a few weeks ago. They wanted to have something intimate and laid back so we gathered at where we had cinnamon rolls in lieu of cake and a taco bar.⁠

With these micro weddings becoming the norm, I'm getting to see how everyone makes their wedding truly unique and personal to them. It's been really goddamn cool to watch this industry grow and change year by year.⁠
⁠
I've got one more wedding in good ole Vegas for the year and then I'll be shut down for 2024 and I'm so excited for a well earned little break of mine.
