Quixotic with Random Rab @ CrossroadsKC

Quixotic headlined another great show down at CrossroadsKC a week ago from last Saturday. It's always fun shooting Quixotic because of the great production that they always bring. The show, performers, music, and the lighting, it's hard to go wrong. Plus, got to see some good friends that I haven't seen in awhile :)

Shot some photos of the dress rehearsal of Memory Palace which premieres tomorrow night, for one night only! You won't want to miss this full-length work created with the dynamic force that is New Orleans cellist Helen Gillet and local artists and musicians Brad Cox, Peregrine Honig, and Mark Southerland. The production delves into the complex process of how memories are constructed, and what happens to people when memories begin to deteriorate. I had a great time shooting the Kansas City Dance Festival's dress rehearsal tonight with some amazing photographers, Steve Wilson, Philip Koenig, and Mike Strong. Kansas City, you have no idea how lucky you are to have such a vibrant arts scene here. I know there are a lot of things going on in KC this weekend but damn, you have to see this show! Hey, friends of the arts. Here are some behind the scenes teaser pics from last nights rehearsals for Kansas City Dance Festival's up coming show this weekend at the UMKC Spencer Theatre. I tried to capture a little bit of the process and insight in to what a production like this looks like without the costumes, stage lighting, and drama that you get when you see that actual performance on stage in the venue. This creative process that choreographers and dancers go through has always inspired me and I thought that it might for you all out there as well. Though, I must say, the pics here don't do this up coming performance justice. I was blown away by the artistry and performances that I documented of this great international cast.
