Lovely Beauty KC’s studio is one of the most stunning studio spaces I have ever photographed in and Julia’s wedding day gave me every reason to fall in love with it.

Julia and her girls came here to get their hair and makeup done by one of the best teams in the business. But on the hottest day of the summer there was absolutely no way we were going outside for portraits. So we stayed. And this studio delivered every single corner we turned.

Beautiful light. A gorgeous environment. A bride who was absolutely glowing. Sometimes the heat makes the decision for you and honestly it was the right one. 🤍

Colorful wedding inspiration starts with the florals and Becca and Skylar set the bar impossibly high.

Every single arrangement was bursting with color and personality. All the florals together created the most stunning and vibrant collection of blooms I have ever photographed at a wedding.

And then there was Becca’s bouquet. I had never seen anything like it in my entire career and I am still thinking about it. 🌈🤍

The Bauer Kansas City is hands down one of my favorite venues to photograph couples in — and Catie and Tony’s fall wedding is exactly why.

This space gives you so much to work with without needing much added. A wall of mirrors, beautiful window light, worn brick, string lights overhead — every corner delivers something different. We moved from spot to spot and each one gave us something completely unique.

Some of my favorite details from their day: Catie’s grandmother playing violin at the ceremony, private vows read just between the two of them, and the most epic sparkler exit to close the night out. 🤍

As a Charleston wedding photographer I have photographed a lot of receptions. But the energy on Maggie and Garrett’s dance floor was something else entirely.

The live band never stopped. Not once. And nobody wanted them to. Maggie changed into her second dress and got right back out there and the room just fed off of her energy all night long.

Oh and that dance floor? Maggie designed it herself. Hand drawn images of their dogs, the colleges they attended, where they got engaged, their favorite things — every detail of their story was literally beneath their feet as they danced the night away.

This is what happens when you invest in a live band. The party does not stop. 🤍

They found me on Google 3 weeks before their wedding and said yes immediately.

A spring afternoon at the Loose Park Rose Garden, 30 of their closest people, private vows shared just between the two of them before the ceremony, and Sam’s dad officiating at the fountain. All wrapped up in 3 hours.

Sometimes the best days are the simplest ones. 🤍

A wedding in Kansas City does not get more stunning than this and we had not even made it to the venue yet.

Mindy and Amber got ready separately at the most charming Airbnb and shared the most joyful heartfelt first look before we headed to the Nelson Atkins for portraits. It was raining. We grabbed clear umbrellas. And honestly the photos turned out even better because of it.

Two brides. One iconic Kansas City landmark. And so much love between them that my camera could barely keep up. 🤍🏳️‍🌈

Spicy post alert!
photography tips from someone who has a very complicated relationship with the word luxury.

Here is the thing. I provide a high level of service. I am fully present. Intentional. Dedicated. Personal. My couples get an experience that is completely tailored to them and their day. By every definition that is a luxury treatment.

But the word itself frustrates me. Because in our industry luxury can quietly signal a higher social standing. A certain price point. A certain kind of wedding that looks a specific way. And when that word is the first thing a couple encounters it can make them feel like they are simply not the right fit before they even reach out.

That breaks my heart a little.

A 30 person park wedding deserves the same level of presence and care as a 300 person ballroom wedding. A backyard taco bar wedding deserves the same intentionality as a five course plated dinner. Every couple deserves a photographer who shows up fully for their specific day.

That is the standard I hold myself to. Not a price point. Not an aesthetic. Just showing up completely for you. 🤍

Wedding veil inspiration does not get more special than this.

Maya’s mother hand stitched every single rose onto this veil herself. Every single one. Cathedral length, measured perfectly to fall just past the train of her dress. I honestly could not stop photographing it because every angle and every bit of light hit it differently.

There is something about a handmade detail on a wedding day that makes everything feel more meaningful. This was not just a veil. It was a piece of art made with so much love that Maya got to wear on one of the most important days of her life. 🤍

Wedding day details are my absolute favorite thing to photograph and Katie and Alex’s gave me so much to work with.

That bouquet. Those blue floral bridesmaid dresses in every different pattern. The lace floral detail on Katie’s dress. The leg slit. The flat lay. And those rings sitting together perfectly.

Details tell the story of a wedding day before a single person walks down the aisle and these ones were absolutely stunning from start to finish. 🤍

Boulevard Brewing Company in Kansas City is such a perfect backdrop for an engagement party and Morgan and Noah’s celebration was exactly the kind of event I love to photograph.

No posing. No timeline. Just a newly engaged couple completely present with every single person who showed up to celebrate them. These two made their way around the entire room and genuinely talked to each and every guest. It was so lovely to witness.

There is something really special about photographing an event like this candidly before all the wedding planning chaos begins. Just two people soaking in the joy of being newly engaged surrounded by their people. 🤍
