Blue wedding color palette ideas do not get more beautiful than this.

Katie got ready in her childhood home surrounded by all of her bridesmaids.

It all took place in her parents kitchen (of all places) and I may or may not have suggested we move the kitchen table to get the most optimal light and that beautiful blue wall. Zero regrets. 😄

Her bridesmaids wore the most stunning mix of blue dresses — all different patterns and shades of blue that somehow worked together perfectly. Soft, vibrant, and so intentional. If you are dreaming of a blue wedding palette this spring, let this be your sign. 🤍

The Tudor Ballroom at Hotel Kansas City is one of those ceremony spaces that does all the heavy lifting for you.

Katie and Justin chose not to do a first look — so when Justin saw Katie walking down that aisle for the first time, the tears came fast. Traditional vows, a serene and stunning ceremony, and then the most beautiful kiss on the way back down the aisle as husband and wife.

Colorful wedding palette inspiration does not get better than this — and Becca and Skylar delivered in every single way.

From the moment I saw Becca’s mood board I knew this wedding was going to be something special. COLOR COLOR COLOR. And holy wow did they show up.

Every bridesmaid wore a different color dress. Becca’s bouquet was unlike anything I have ever seen in my entire career. The florals, the invitations, the details — every single element was vibrant, intentional and so full of personality.

Oh and those dress sleeves on Becca? Absolutely to die for. 🌈🤍

As a Kansas City wedding photographer who got to travel to Charleston for Maggie and Garrett’s wedding, I am still not over it and will continue to post this wedding forever.

From the moment Maggie’s mom helped button her into that stunning gown with the custom lace, to the second Garrett turned around and saw her for the first time…I was done. The tears came fast and they were absolutely beautiful.

Maggie carried a clutch she made entirely from scratch using pieces from both her nana’s and her mom’s dress. Her mom hand smocked the flower girl dresses and ring bearer outfit from scratch. Every single detail in this wedding was intentional, personal and full of so much love.

One of my favorite unique engagement session ideas is one most couples never even consider. It’s an evening at home.

Before we even picked up a camera I asked Olivia and Brett what a normal evening looks like for them. And it became very clear very quickly that their world revolves around Adam. Olivia reads on the couch with him. Brett games with him nearby. Adam is not just their dog. He is the third roommate who runs the household.

When they mentioned they loved to dance I did not hesitate for a second. Put on a song. Go. So they did. Right there in their living room while Adam watched from the sidelines like the proud boy he is.

There is something about photographing a couple in their own home that I cannot replicate anywhere else. The way they move through their space together. The way it just feels like them. This is the most authentic place to photograph yourselves and I will stand by that forever.

This is my favorite kind of session to shoot. 🤍

A micro wedding in Kansas City does not have to mean small on meaning and Cathy and Mike are the perfect example of that.

A knot tying ceremony where each of Cathy’s 4 kids took part in the tying. Portraits that were just the two of them completely giddy and so in love. And a cake cutting that felt just as celebratory as any grand reception I have ever photographed.

9 years of photographing weddings and at the beginning of this year I hit a wall.

Seasonal depression. A comparison game I couldn’t stop playing. An industry that felt like it was changing faster than I could keep up. For the first time in almost a decade I had to ask myself if this was still for me.

And then something shifted.

I picked up a film camera for the first time since college. I started paying attention to color differently. I started to rethink my marketing strategy to attract couples who wanted to celebrate a wedding their way, instead of this pinterest perfect picture. I have met so many couples in the last few months!

This shoot was the start of that transition. I wanted to show my authentic self. How I look every day. What I enjoy doing. Knitting, reading and always looking up ways on how to better serve my couples.

I am so proud of the work I have been doing since that wall in January. Prouder than I have been in years. It’s crazy what I was experiencing at the beginning of this year compared to halfway through the year.

And I am just getting started. 🤍

A Pavilion Event Space wedding in Kansas City is the perfect backdrop for a couple who brings every single bit of their personality to their ceremony — and Becca and Skylar did exactly that.

The ceremony was heartfelt, adorable and full of cheers from their people. And when they walked back down that aisle as husband and wife Skylar dipped her right then and there. The crowd went wild.

Oh and those rings? They knew exactly what they were doing every time they held them up to the camera. Not a single shy bone in either of their bodies and I absolutely loved every second of it. 🌈🤍
