I know I swore I would never shoot weddings.

Kelly Hopkins might have changed my mind on that conviction.

I remember when Kelly first told me about Chad - her voice sounded different when she talked about him.
After Daniel and I ran into both of them in public no fewer than 4 times, I couldn't help but feel super invested in their story.

I nearly ugly cried when Kelly asked me to shoot their VERY special day.

I have never seen a more laid back Bride or a more blissful couple partying on the dance floor. If every wedding was like theirs, I might consider making a career change.

The best shooting light is also when you lose light the most rapidly: sunset. Timing out sunset (and sunrise) photos might be challenging, but it makes all the difference.

They say it's bad practice to let your social media accounts sit unused for long periods of time. That makes sense; I suppose it says something about inconsistency or a lack of dedication to the page in question. But for me, it is simply due to having a very full life. And I am so grateful for this life that pulls me in so many directions; it means I have many important causes and people who deserve my time and energy. So thank you to everyone who asks how my photography journey is going. It has been thriving, albeit quietly. It will always be something to which I lend my efforts. That's what today's message is about: you.

I know so many incredible people. Cancer survivors. Domestic abuse escapees. Parents fighting for custody. Advocates for social causes so major that it seems like no amount of good will change the present course of things. Volunteers. Entrepreneurs. Visionaries. It is to you I want to devote my next 365 + days. I want to tell your stories; that is how I best contribute. It is an ambitious project. And I need your help.

I want to know your story. I want to tell it. It doesn't have to be a story about an achievement or winning a battle; it can be about the war you are fighting right now. It can be about the time you failed or that wound you still wear in private. Whatever it is, it is worthy of being told. Partner with me in this ambition. Send me a personal message, or if you feel so inclined, tell me a version of it below. Let's start some conversations that matter on a micro level.

I am grateful for the inspiration each one of you have spurred in my life. Happy Thanksgiving to each and every one of you.

It's been a while, friends. Accept this satisfyingly-crisp shot of the moon as an apology.

I got this last night from the backyard - testing out the photography capacity of my new iPhone7 and I am NOT disappointed.

The Boulevard Brewing Co. recreation center is one of my all-time cherished summer spots in the city. Each time I come, it's memorable. I drank two of my samples (the tequila barrel lime gose and the 80 Acre IPA) before my inner photographer reminded me I hadn't taken a single picture yet. If that doesn't demonstrate a good time, I don't know what does.
