It has been far too long since the last update to this page. In that time, much has transpired - very little of it expected. We have had a string of deaths in our family over the past year and a half, including a mother, a cousin, a nephew, a close friend, and our our trusty canine companion, Terra, during covid. As if that was not enough, in January 2021, Karen was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and she passed away on April 1, 2021. Life is very different after these events.
On a positive note, Karen and I completed many photo trips in 2020, including a 6-week trip to the southwest late in the year. There is a large backlog of images to print from these trips. The gallery was open from late August, 2020 through mid-October and we had many masked visitors, despite covid. We had expected to complete our web site revision and re-stock our print inventory over the 2020-2021 winter but priorities shifted radically, to say the least. I will tackle this revision next winter, including a much more comprehensive display of available images for printing.
More than 100 days after losing my wife and business partner of 42 years, I am beginning to emerge from the loss. The Alpenhaus Gallery is open through mid-October on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holidays, from Noon to 5pm and by appointment, or for drop-in, whenever I am here.
For now, all print sales will be completed in the brick and mortar Alpenhaus Gallery but I plan to resume limited sales via the VPP web site next year. I am still happy to do custom printing/framing - as long as you are willing to wait. Please stop by if you are in Keene!
I expect to continue with VPP, as Karen and I had planned, keeping regular hours in the summer and by appointment/drop-in at other times of the year. I am printing frequently and slowly building inventory back to full capacity. I am also making custom frames from cherry and figured maple. As of the moment, the VPP web site is terribly out of date but I am hoping to address that this coming winter - finally. Without Karen, my workload has doubled and everything takes longer. I will continue to offer fine art printing services and private workshops in addition to running the gallery. As I learn more about my solo capabilities I will adjust accordingly. Apologies for the long hiatus.
