I'm not much of a gambling man, until it comes to taking photos of athletes during games. No, I'm not placing bets on who wins or loses, but I am gambling on where the ball is going to end up, or if the athlete I'm currently taking photos of is going to do something that stands out.
On the BRF side of things, I can't tell you how many plays I followed Will Rahmlow as he ran a route, with the end result being just that, a route ran and no ball in sight. It finally paid off in the 4th quarter when he scored his touchdown (not shown here).
Another example was when Sparta had the ball on the BRF goal line. Oliver Mulvaney, the Sparta center, was on my list of athletes to cover. Sparta running back, Parker Benish, was also on my list and in the backfield. Do I go for the glory and hope Parker gets the ball and scores? Nope, I made the decision to cover Oliver on that play. His role is just as important, if not more important, as that of everyone else on the field. Oliver made a quick block, taking himself and his opponent to the ground immediately. I instantly found Parker and was able to capture him as he battled his way into the end zone. Double win for me on that play!
