There are some maternity sessions that feel like more than just taking beautiful photographs.

They feel like a pause.

A chance for mom to be pampered, celebrated, and reminded that this season deserves to be documented, too.

This beautiful mama came to my private outdoor studio in Kewaskum, Wisconsin for a summer sunset maternity and family session — but this session carried a little extra meaning.

She never had the opportunity to have maternity portraits taken with her first baby.

She arrived earlier than expected, and that chapter of pregnancy passed before she ever had the chance to document it.

So when her sister gifted her a maternity session and an afternoon of pampering, it became so much more than a photography session.

It became a gift she could keep.

One of my favorite parts of creating a maternity experience is making sure mom doesn't feel like she has to do everything herself.

Before we stepped into the wildflowers, my professional makeup artist came to my home studio in Kewaskum and got this gorgeous mama all dolled up for her session.

She had already selected two beautiful gowns — including a brand-new gown chosen especially for her soon-to-be baby girl.

And then there was the second gown.

The one she had originally hoped to wear during her first pregnancy but never got the chance to.

Being able to bring that gown back into her maternity story made this session incredibly special.

There is something beautiful about a family walking through life with Jesus at the center.

Little feet following big footsteps.

Little hands reaching for yours.

Little hearts learning what faith looks like by watching the people they love most.

One day, these children will look back at these photographs and see more than a beautiful family session at Holly Hill.

They’ll see the people who loved them, led them, prayed for them, and showed them what it means to walk with Jesus.

And maybe that’s the most beautiful thing we can preserve through photographs... not just how a family looked in one season, but what they believed, what they valued, and how they loved.

One day, your little one will look back at these photographs and see so much more than your beautiful, growing belly.

They’ll see the beginning of their story.

They’ll see how you carried them, long before you ever carried them in your arms.

How you waited for them.

Wondered who they would become.

Dreamed about the life you’d share.
And loved them fiercely before you ever heard their first cry.

These photographs are a way of preserving that in-between season, the anticipation, the tenderness, the quiet moments before everything changed.

Texas is their HOME, but Wisconsin has their heart. ❤️

Every year, when my favorite Texans make their way back to Wisconsin, it feels like a little piece of summer isn’t complete without them. And having them here for the 4th of July has become one of those traditions I look forward to every single year.

I knew they had grown, but seeing them in person made me realize just HOW much. Social media can make you feel like you’re keeping up with everyone, but there’s something about standing next to them and thinking, “Wait… when did you get THIS big?”

These sweet kiddos are growing into such beautiful, kind, thoughtful young people. And somehow, through all that growing, they’ve managed to keep those sweet hearts that make them so incredibly special.

Mom and Dad, you should be so proud. Truly. You’re raising some pretty amazing humans, and it shows in who they are.

Texas may be where they call HOME, but I’m pretty sure a little piece of their hearts belongs right here in Wisconsin. ❤️🧀

I see you. I hear you.

Mom‘s wear money hats and a family life and a personal life and our business life and sometimes that can’t get overlap. One thing moms do as they know I’m guilty of it as myself as I don’t take a moment to
Pause
Breathe
Reflect
Pray

And when I don’t take that time, that’s when I start to feel the coming out whether it’s cold whether it’s just mass exhaustion, whether it’s anxiety, whether it’s just simply overload in the brain.

This is a reminder for myself and all of you busy mamas. It’s OK to take 20 minutes out of your day to pause. Breathe. Reflect. Pray.

Taking that small moment for yourself, ultimately will help you mentally be more present in your family, business and with your friends.
