Every cable has a label. Not only does this help with load-out to make sure nothing accidentally walks away, but it makes troubleshooting significantly easier. If there is ever a question of what channel is patched where, it makes it so easy to see what cable is which, especially when there are dozens of cables patched on stage.

“Every system is perfectly designed to get the results it gets” and this system gets us flexibility.

It’s not just production gear that should be flexible. This racking system makes it possible to arrange things so each piece of gear has its place. We have spent the last few weeks rearranging the warehouse so we can work more efficiently.

Earlier this year, we were invited to provide production for the Airstream Club International Rally annual convention. It moves all around the country, but this year was in Minot, in the State Fair Center Arena. This event allowed us to flex all of our muscles, combining all facets of production. From big band entertainment to a full choir to talking heads with PowerPoints, we covered it all.

The iPad, first introduced in 2010, has revolutionized how we do production. Nowadays, you wont find us on an event without at least one iPad. It is one of the most flexible tools we use. Sometimes it’s as simple as playing preshow music all the way to running the whole show with lights and sound from one. We’ve even seen a musical act where the drummer played finger drums from his iPad.
But what you'll see us do most? Stand on stage with the artist, mixing monitors from their perspective in real time.

When it comes to corporate events like conferences, rallies or fundraisers, having options for microphones brings confidence to presenters and allows them to be fully engaged. Our flexibility allows us to provide options from a simple lectern mic, to a wireless handheld mic, or presenters choice of a headset mic or lavalier mic.

Once summer wraps up, outdoor events and festivals go back into hibernation for the winter, but corporate events and conferences pick up. This week, we had a day inside providing a full video system with cameras, screens, audio, and uplighting for a fundraiser event. The next day we were back outside in the dirt, providing a banging PA system for a private corporate event rodeo. It’s so cool that we get to do these things!

Last week at the South Dakota State Fair, one of our entertainment stages was scheduled to host one of only two SD gubernatorial debates with Governor Larry Rhoden & Dan Ahlers for Governor. This event was presented by the South Dakota Farmers Union. When they called asking about internet and mentioned livestreaming from a laptop and we**am, we had to stop them right there. We immediately offered a video live-streaming package so the event could reach a wider audience and be distributed to media. We go the extra mile to give our clients and their audiences the best experience.
All of this was made possible with our amazing crew and some great tools from Canon, Starlink & our favorite new tool; DeFeedback.

We have been at the South Dakota State Fair all week with 2 full entertainment stages and more than 10 areas of general sound. Today’s post is about all of the miscellaneous systems we provide all across the fair grounds. There’s nothing glamorous and it’s not all that professional in comparison to a stage show, but when a 4H judge needs a microphone, we’ve got it. It’s a pretty simple thing for us to manage that takes a lot of stress off the fair management.

As we wrap up on our long week here at Central States Fair and prepare for our journey east river for the South Dakota State Fair, we wanted to take some time to reflect on these 2 fairs in particular.
Providing production for fairs has been some of our longest consistent work. Monte started doing production at the state fair and central states fair over 25 years ago. Though he is not with us anymore, we carry on with the same passion and dedication he lead with.
Each stage at each fair has different needs. Our systems are not a “one size fits all”. We prepare each system with the gear that makes sense, and is most effective for the needs of each stage. We continue to update and evolve our systems over the years, but what doesn’t change is our commitment to connecting the artist with the audience.
