Playing around with a new technique for taking nightscapes, nothing major but I like the ones in portrait mode in particular. These were taken last Wednesday morning from 1am to 3am. I particularly like the ones in portrait mode.

A happy customer, I met a couple at a recent market that I was attending and they fell in love with a shot of the Whalehead club during the blue hour. They had a specific spot where they wanted to hang it so when they returned to their home from vacation they measured the spot so I could create a pano to fit.

They wanted a 24"x60" pano to fit so I was happy to edit the photo to fit. They received the HD metal print yesterday and they absolutely love it!

I went out a attempted to do some nightscapes at Bodie Island Lighthouse tonight but it was way to busy with cars going by constantly and the moon didn't help anything either.

This was shot with my astro modified camera, it is amazing how much light it gathers at night.

I'm still glad that I was able to get out there, I miss my late nights roaming Hatteras Island late at night taking landscape photos as much as I could.

I was fortunate enough to have spotted a bobcat stalking a hen wood duck and her chicks today. This is one beautiful cat and the camouflage is amazing, if he hadn't been moving I would have never spotted him.

This is the shot that really disappointed me with my 180-600mm lens, the bokeh is just not good. The bear came out great all things considered but the lens let me down with the background being so busy.

This was actually taken from a moving vehicle while I was just pointing in the general direction of the bear and praying it auto focused on the bear and it did! I was fortunate to even have the camera pointed in the right direction and it locked on his eyes!

So the question is, what lens do i want to replace the 180-600mm? I love the flexibility of the 180-600 and will likely keep it on a backup camera for those times where I'm to close for a 400 or a 600. I'm considering the Nikon Z mount 400 TC, 600 TC and the F mount 500mm. I won't be able to get the previous two this year but I should be able to get the 500mm this fall or winter.
