This vibrant garter snake crossed my path on my way to the lake. It managed to stay very still but only because it had just finished feeding. Its belly was completely full.

I took my camera with me to work (a couple months back) and I was quick enough to captured a rufous hummingbird taking a moment of respite from defending its territory and looking for some sweet nectar. They are little badasses that are capable of scaring off larger birds away from their preferred blossoms.

This right here proves that size does not matter. A red winged blackbird was protecting its territory from a great blue heron. It was hunting for fish but it got too close to the wrong part of the marsh. It looks like the bird is having a little fun......Just like riding a bull lol

As high tide was approaching I was able to snap this pic before the water reached me. A blue heron fishing alone with his spear like bill. The design of the neck is put on display best when these unique creatures decide to fish.

I accidently spooked these trying to photograph them. I jumped a creek to get closer to them but they thought I was charging them so they jumped and galloped away. Eventually they calmed down but that didn't stop them from observing me as I snapped some shots.
