For our local creatives! 📣 We know that arts, music, film and other creative pursuits are emerging as economic opportunities here in our region. We’re working on strengthening the ecosystem that supports you...more info to come on that.

In the meantime, here’s your opportunity to let Business Oregon know how you participate in the creative economy, and have a voice in how the Arts & Culture division adapts its programming to better support you.

We hope you’ll take a few minutes to complete this survey and make sure our region is represented!

🐟 Two Types of Employees You’ll Find in Every Workplace

Not every employee who makes the most noise creates the most value.

Some employees quietly deliver results, solve problems, and consistently contribute without seeking constant attention.

Others may talk a lot about their work, but their actual output doesn’t always match the noise they create.

🐟 The “Fish” Employee

✔️ Works quietly
✔️ Focuses on results
✔️ Creates valuable output
✔️ Lets performance speak for itself
✔️ Doesn’t need constant recognition

🐔 The “Chicken” Employee

🔊 Talks about work all day
🔊 Makes sure everyone knows what they’re doing
🔊 Looks busy and stays visible
🔊 Sometimes creates more noise than results

💡 The real lesson for leaders:

Don’t confuse visibility with productivity.

The loudest employee isn’t necessarily the most valuable employee.

Look beyond who speaks the most in meetings.
Look at who solves problems, delivers results, supports the team, and creates measurable value.

And as an employee, remember::

You don’t always have to announce your contribution. Let your results speak for you.

👉 Be valuable, not just visible.

What matters more in your workplace: visibility or results?

They will call you crazy.

They will be right.

But that doesn’t mean you are wrong.

It's a pretty cool feeling scrolling on socials and seeing so many photos I've taken for various businesses, events, and nonprofits being used. Pretty cool indeed. 😎

Some taken many many years ago, still being used for promotions & story telling.

Why?

Quality. 😊

POV: you're a small business owner & your client is over an hour late, but you're not actually mad because that means you get to take that very elusive thing you've hear about - a break.

Yes I did take a nap under that tree in the sunshine this late summer afternoon 🌞 and my client did finally show and we had a wonderful photoshoot in the creek 📷
