You have probably heard photographers say they give you RAW files…. But why?

It’s not because we’re hiding anything. There’s actually a bit more to it than most people realize.

A RAW file is essentially a digital negative. It contains a LOT of information, but it isn’t the finished photograph you see in your gallery. The color, contrast, exposure, skin tones, and overall look still needs to be intentionally edited. Think of it like getting a cake before it’s frosted, decorated, and ready to serve.

When you hire a photographer, you aren’t just paying for someone to push a button. You’re hiring their eye, experience, and artistic vision- including how they edit your images. Editing is a huge part of creating a cohesive gallery and giving your photos the look and feeling you fell in love with when you chose your photographer.

Your photographer’s job is to take the moments that happened on your wedding day and turn them into photographs you’ll want to come back to for years.

When you hire a photographer you are not just investing in the files. You are investing in the finished story— your story.

You are investing in their ability to see the moments, tell your story, and create something beautiful from it.

The final gallery is the result of their experience, artistry, and hours of work behind the scenes— so you can simply enjoy your memories for years to come.

A little throwback to Jordan & Cary’s engagement session at the Huntsville Botanical Garden 🤍🌿

There’s something so special about photographing couples in places that already feel a little magical. These two made this Botanical Gardens engagement session so easy—from the sweetest moments together to all the little in-between laughs that made the evening feel like them.

And yes, before you ask… we heard the Shane Gillis comments 😂

Going back through Jordan & Cary’s proposal session and remembering just how beautiful this season of their story was. There’s something so special about getting to document the moments that happen before the wedding day—the excitement, the anticipation, and the beginning of a brand-new chapter.

The Huntsville Botanical Garden was the perfect setting for their proposal, with so much beauty surrounding such a meaningful moment. I’ll never get over the honor of capturing these little pieces of people’s stories and knowing they’ll have these photographs to look back on for years to come. ✨

Four sessions. 🤍 And somehow, each one just gets a little sweeter.

I’ve had the joy of photographing the Kelvington family four different times now, and getting to watch their family grow through my lens is one of the sweetest parts of this job.

This time, we spent golden hour walking through the park, soaking up the evening, laughing, and just enjoying being together. These are the sessions I never take for granted—the ones where I get to come back again and again and document not just a moment, but a family’s story as it unfolds.

There’s something so special about watching families grow, and I’m so thankful they’ve trusted me to capture it along the way. 🥹🤍

The kind of family photos you’ll look back on and remember how it *felt*. 🤍

The little hands, the belly laughs, the in-between moments, and the people who make this season of life so sweet.

Because someday, these ordinary moments will be the ones you wish you could step back into.

So let’s document them—beautifully, honestly, and just as you are. ✨

Not to be dramatic, but… this belongs on Pinterest. 😂🤍

But behind every “effortless” photo is intentional light, movement, composition, and a whole lot of watching for the moment.

Pretty pictures are fun. Photos that make you feel something? That’s what I’m after. ✨

HELLOOOO 🥰🥰

I wanted these images to feel like me—warm, intentional, colorful, and a little bit nostalgic. The kind of photos that tell you something about the person behind the camera before you ever step in front of it.

So… here’s a little peek at the girl behind Fontenot Photography. 🤍 I love Diet Coke, iced coffee, and I would be nothing without Jesus Christ!

And of course, I have to tag the talented people who made this day so much fun:

There are some wedding days that feel less like an event and more like a little world of their own.

Holly and Kevin’s was tucked away behind the trees—a quiet little place, surrounded by green, where the day seemed to move a little slower.

It was an intimate wedding, but somehow the emotion of it all felt anything but small.
Lately, I’ve been drawn to black and white imagery because there’s a certain honesty to it. Without the distraction of color, you notice the things that matter—the way someone looks at the person they love, a hand reaching for another, laughter, tears, the stillness between moments.

And then, as if the day couldn’t have ended any more beautifully, the rain came.
They danced anyway.

Watching Holly and Kevin move through the rain, completely wrapped up in each other and entirely unconcerned with anything else, was one of those moments that stopped me in my tracks. Their joy was palpable. Their love was so evident that, for a moment, documenting it felt almost overwhelming.

This is why I love photographing weddings.

Not because of the perfectly curated details or the beautiful places, though those things have their place. But because every once in a while, you get to witness something so genuine that it reminds you why photographs matter in the first place.
Some moments are meant to be remembered exactly as they felt.
And I think these might be some of my favorites yet. 🖤

Some love stories look even better in the rain. ☔️🤍

Hunter & Grace didn’t let a little rain stop their Creekside at Colliers End engagement session — they embraced it like pros, and honestly, I think the rain made these moments even sweeter.

There’s something about rainy engagement photos that feels a little more romantic, a little more nostalgic, and a whole lot more real. Add a Camp Snap Eight video camera, and you’ve got the kind of memories that feel like you’re stepping right back into the moment. 🎞️

So here’s your reminder: don’t reschedule just because it rains. Sometimes the unexpected moments become your favorites. 🤍
