✨ ️Meet the Artist! ✨️
Its been a long (loooong) time coming, but I've finally made the leap to turn my hobby into my career! My name is Jaylyn, and I'm a photographer specializing in all things birth! That means Maternity🤰🏿, Labor & Delivery👩🏽🍼, Fresh 48👶🏻, if it's about mama's and babies I'm in!
I live in Lafayette, Louisiana with my infinitely supportive boyfriend Jacob, our baby son Rook, and my two sisters! Our house is nothing short of a zoo and we love every second of it. When I'm not behind the camera I'm snuggling my little boy, starting some new creative skill (you can never have enough, right?), reading, giving swimming lessons, avoiding folding the laundry, etc 🤣
I started my photography journey in 2017, traveling across the US chasing soccer tournaments and shooting on "auto" 🤣 . When I finally decided to stick my roots in the ground, I came back home to Lafayette ⚜️ looking for some way to continue using my camera. I landed neck deep in the school/daycare portrait world and fell in love! But, it didn't quite take care of that itch I needed to scratch creatively.
After chasing a couple pipe dreams (scuba diving🤿, commission artist🎨, there's plenty more don't get me started), I explored the idea of birth photography. That led me down a rabbit hole of birth photography content that continues to flood my social media feeds! I had no idea people were interested in such a vulnerable experience being captured forever. So, I got to work!
I've been building my portfolio for a while now, and I'm so thankful for the clients-turned-friends that let me in to their precious birth space. I can't wait to share their special moments with you, and hopefully capture yours as well!
P.S. The intention of this page is to shine a light on the beauty of birth and all its vulnerability. What better way to kick things off than to share MY vulnerable moment and let you all in on my amazing birth! Baby Rook was born at The Natural Birth House by Midwife Kira Kana. We received zero medical interventions other than encouraging words and support. It was beautiful and euphoric, and I wish the same experience for every mama!
If you've made it this far, feel free to share your birth experience in the comments!
