Here's a 60-second trick that makes getting dressed so much easier: know your body type.

Grab a tape measure and take four numbers, your shoulders, bust, waist, and hips.

Compare them, and your widest and narrowest points tell your shape.

Apple, pear, inverted triangle, rectangle, or hourglass. Every one of them has cuts and styles made to flatter it, and once you know yours, you stop guessing in the fitting room and start choosing with confidence.

Dede has been short and curvy her whole life, and like a lot of us, she spent years focused on how she was different from the "norm," as if that were a bad thing.

You don't need a new wardrobe to look incredible in photos.

You need to know what flatters the body you have right now.

I run into this misconception constantly.

Women think looking good means losing weight first, or buying a closet full of new clothes.

It doesn't.

Every body type has cuts and styles that make it shine, and once you know yours, getting dressed stops being a battle with the mirror. Most of the time, you already own pieces that work beautifully. You just need to know which ones.

"I'm just not photogenic."

I hear it every day, and it isn't true.

Being photogenic was never a talent you're born with. It's guidance and it’s something you can learn.

Here are the three things that make any woman look incredible on camera.

One, you never pose yourself. I direct every single shot, so you never have to wonder what to do with your hands.

Two, we shoot to your favorite features, never your fears, and play up what you love.

Three, professional makeup and hair styling, so you feel glamorous before the camera even comes out.

When all of that comes together, here's what happens.

I know the whole world seems to say the opposite. That beauty has an expiration date. That youth is the only thing worth celebrating. After photographing hundreds of women over 40, I can tell you that's a lie.

You are more confident, more yourself, and more powerful now than you were at 25. Your beauty isn't fading. It's deepening.

Almost every woman tells me the same thing the moment she walks in. "I've been so nervous."

And I understand. Stepping in front of a camera can feel so far outside your comfort zone. But here's what I've watched happen over and over. She takes that uncomfortable step anyway, and everything changes. She skips out of the studio with so much joy, so proud of what she just did.

It was never about feeling photogenic. It's about feeling supported enough to take that brave step in front of the camera.

So come in nervous. That's okay. You'll walk out with joy and so much confidence.

Meet Marli Lira. 💡

She's the first woman featured in Branded: Women of Central Texas, a new series I'm building to celebrate the women quietly building businesses worth watching, and to tell the real story of how they're doing it.

Ask Marli what she does and she keeps it simple: "He keeps the lights on, and I keep the business running." Her husband Robert is the Master Electrician behind ABRC Electrical Services in Buda. Marli runs everything that keeps it moving.

She didn't stumble into this.

Years in accounting, an MBA, and a corporate career that never quite fit. "I felt boxed in, like everything had to be done a certain way, and none of it felt personal."
So in October 2025 she leapt. "No backup plan, no safety net. Just trusting that everything would work out."

What I love most is how her clients describe her: relief. "I'm the calm in the middle of their chaos," she says. "The person who answers the phone, listens, explains things in plain English, and makes sure they never feel stupid for asking questions."

And her definition of success has nothing to do with money. It's freedom. Freedom to run a business with integrity, take a client call, and then turn around and be with her kids. "That's my win. Not the money. Not the titles. Just the simple, steady peace of knowing I'm building a life that actually feels like mine."

Her and Robert built this. And they are only getting started.
