The Old and the New

Upon the back of weathered wood,
Where time has carved its quiet truth,
A fallen giant softly rests—
An elder hushed in brittle proof.

Its bark, once strong, now cracked and dry,
Still holds the warmth of countless days,
Of storms endured and seasons passed,
Of sunlit skies and silver haze.

And there—so small it might be missed—
A tender sprout begins to climb,
With hopeful leaves of vibrant green,
Reaching past the weight of time.

Its roots still cling to where it came,
A seed once hidden, now awake,
Drawing life from what has been,
From all the old had given, take.

The ancient tree no longer grows,
Yet gives itself in silent grace,
Becoming soil, becoming strength,
A cradle for this fragile place.

And so they meet—
The end, the start—
Not far apart, but intertwined:
The old tree bows, the new one rises,
A quiet promise life designed. ❤️💞❤️
