Still one of my favorite portraits to date. I find it interesting when someone ask you to document a piece of their life and how they position them self for this act. This Gentleman guarded the door of the compound I stayed at in Lagos. He slept outside on a piece of cardboard so that the gate could be opened at any time. He clearly had malaria from the deep yellow in his eyes. He was still happy or at least put on a sincere smile every time we met.
