We went to upstate New York this past weekend. While there, we went to The Wild Center in Tupper Lake and got to explore the beautiful world around us! Fortunately, Thomas Dambo has a few of his troll sculptures there currently, and we came across this one. I have seen his trolls in several different locations, but I definitely think this is one of my favorites ☺️

Meet Ibbi Pip!

“Ibbi Pip is a handy, optimistic troll and a friend of all animals. She tries to communicate with the humans through colorful birdhouses because she holds a strong belief that there is still hope for them. Ibbi has seen how humans build these to bring the birds closer to them and thinks that maybe this could awaken the humans compassion for their natural surroundings. So, Ibbi puts up little birdhouses everywhere in the hope that the humans will think more about whom they share the world with.”

It is with a heavy heart that I announce, as of today and for the foreseeable future, I will no longer be posting photos of minors on my photography page in which their faces are visible. This pains me deeply as some of the best photos I have gotten have been of children, including my own, but I need to do what I need to do to protect these babes.

Last week’s Supreme Court ruling essentially made it okay for people to create AI-generated Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) so long as it stays in the privacy of their own home and it doesn’t resemble an actual child. Unfortunately, that’s a risk I am not willing to take on such a public page. I have made it my life’s mission to protect children in any way I can over the years: through working as a forensic nurse who cared for abuse victims, to becoming a mother, and now, as a photographer who despises what AI can do with the most innocent and vulnerable population on earth.

I desperately wish that things were different so that we did not feel the need to stop sharing cute photos of children being children and having fun, but unfortunately that’s the world we currently live in. Maybe one day things will change and I’ll be more comfortable posting freely again. Until then, please continue to enjoy the photos I am comfortable sharing!

I forgot to post my final photo for the B&W challenge yesterday, oops 🤭 I was busy spending the weekend in New York City!

I took this photo off of my friend’s balcony during sunset last night. I just love the contrast of colors of the sunset over the city with the bay compared with the (edited) black and white color scheme of the buildings in front of it.
