"Technicolor Bathroom"

So I'm going to go out on a limb here, and claim this is the nest photo I've ever taken of a bathroom. This is from the aurora show last month, and I had been being to share this one but got busy. Still reveling in the memories of the night....The colors, the tall trees, the walkway, the landscaping, all of it, I thought made for a strong composition, so what if it's the beach bathroom building?...

Magenta Night.

The *might* be my last image to share from Friday night's Aurora spectacle. It will at least be the last for a few days. When I realized there was more activity than I expected to the south, as well as fewer clouds than looking north I headed to the top of the lake for one of my favorite views. I've always loved the distant hills and that tree that often reflects perfectly in the lake. I'm pretty sure this is the spot where I pick up a tick (caught before embedding itself), but totally worth it!

I hope people are not tired of Aurora images yet, as I'm still working through my frames from Friday night....the Northern Lights over Lake Luzerne were a true sight to behold.

Home Show.

A few months ago I moved back to my hometown in the Adirondacks. It's been a little crazy moving, work, selling a house, etc...so I've barely been photographing. I had heard that the Northern Lights might make a showing last night, but weather was not looking great and it's always been a bust for me before. I was on the couch around 9 and my aurora notification app was going nuts! So I grabbed my gear and headed up to the lake. At first there was just the faintest glow visible to the naked eye, camera was grabbing a little more. Then around 10pm...BOOM! The sky lit up. Sheets and rays of light and color all around me. I could not get over how bright the night sky got. I'm taking this as a sign that Lake Luzerne is happy to have me back....

Cascade along the Plotter Kill.

I know, I haven't shared a photo here forever! Actually when I stuck my memory card in my computer I realized I hadn't taken a click since December, I'm sure that's the longest dry spell for me ever. Winter is generally not the most productive time for me, but this winter has been extra crazy with changing positions at my day job and moving upstate to the Adirondacks. We've moved into a new home and are in process of getting our Hudson Valley home on the market. It been a lot, but a good change! Yesterday we took the day off to explore, hike, photograph, drink beer and relax. It will still be a wild ride for us for a bit, but I so very much look forward to more days exploring upstate and sharing more images.

Verdant Valley.

The hike into Dover Stone Church goes along the right bank of brook, and the deep valley it has carved is covered in moss, ferns and other greenery.

So honored to have been a small part of this event. When a group of dedicated individuals get together the really can change the world for the better. This community continues to amaze me.

The Ramble Fourteen Results are in!!! We have raised an astounding $143,000 for our veteran heroes!!!

Our team of dedicated mathematicians have been working around the clock tabulating your incredibly generous donations from all over, and we are ready to share our fundraising results from this year’s Ramble! After an incredible day of music and community, an unprecedented effort from our volunteer army, and the generosity of this inspiring community that literally spans the globe, we have raised an astounding $143,000 for our veteran heroes!!!

We will be delivering this check to NNew England Center and Home for Veteranswho tell us that each thousand dollars we raise will help them find safe and dignified housing for one of our vets struggling to stay off the streets. This little underground, grassroots community has come together and changed 143 lives…

…what a breathtaking thing.

"I'm so going to stand right in the middle of the stream." Is pretty much what I told my friend Mark as soon as we arrived along the Stone Church Brook. Mostly to get the perspective I wanted...but if I'm being honest, the idea of standing, knee deep, in the cool woodland stream on a super hot and humid day seemed like the right move.
