This week Impact 100 Palm Beach County had their fall kickoff event at Neiman Marcus in Boca. I got to photograph the event and had the Anchor Booth, our digital photo booth, set up too!
If you don't know about Impact 100, it's a pretty fantastic organization. The premise is that members donate $1,000 per year. That money is pulled together and given away to non-profit organizations through a rigorous grant voting process. Their donations are typically $100,000 and then they give out a handful of smaller grants. $1,000 is, of course, a great donation but pooling those gifts together to make a sizeable grant of $100,000 can be a complete game changer for a non-profit that is starting a new program or expanding in new ways.
I photograph events for probably 50 or so non-profits and I'm a member of Nonprofits First. Yet, still, when I photograph the Impact 100 luncheon in the spring, I find amazing Charities that I have never heard about who are absolute Rockstars! It's such a great concept!
Also, members can attend a variety of events to connect with each other, including networking events, book clubs,happy hours and more. How fun is that?!
Anyway, they had over 200 women at the fall kickoff, so this Impact season is off to a great start! I can't wait to see how much money they will pool together this year....the goal is One Million Dollars!

This past month I had the opportunity to do some photography work for Palm Beach Dramaworks. They have a new play called Alba. I did some cast photos and then I got to photograph their dress rehearsal. Friends, this is a GREAT play! The casting is fantastic and the whole story line pulled me right in!

I got a notification that I got a review on my business page. I go to look at it, and it's got someone else's name as the photographer. The photographer name in the review is Kali. I thought maybe they didn't spell Kelly correctly. After looking more closely, this just so happens to be a business who has been using my business name. I've reached out to her about this already several times. I explained that I Trademarked the name and she's decided to just ignore me. Thankfully this was a good review LOL.
But this clearly tells me there's confusion among clients. So now I'm annoyed once again. It's almost a full time job to defend my business name! 🤣🤣🤣

Have you ever felt “frozen with fear,” “weak in the knees,” or “sick with worry”? Our everyday language says a lot about the connection between our brains and bodies! 🧠🎨

Last week, I had the pleasure of photographing Palm Health Foundation’s interactive neuroarts event, part of its Train the Brain initiative, at space of mind in Delray Beach—and what a VERY cool place! It’s a creative space where homeschoolers can connect, explore, and learn in unique ways. 🌈

Through drawing, poetry, music, and dance, attendees explored the science behind our brain/body connections and the ways expressive arts can support brain health. This free event gave everyone a chance to participate, get creative, and learn something new.

The presenters guiding the experience were:

🌴📸 CONFESSIONS OF A COLORFUL PHOTOGRAPHER: GOLF EDITION! ⛳

Some photographers love weddings. Some love babies. Some love landscapes.

Me? Give me a golf cart, a camera, a gorgeous Florida morning, and about 100 golfers who insist they're having the best round of their lives. 😂

I LOVE photographing golf tournaments!

I've photographed more than 100 of them, and I still get excited about the early morning registration when the golfers get all their fun gifts, the colorful golf outfits, the decorated carts, the sponsor displays, and the occasional golfer who thinks I can Photoshop 10 strokes off their scorecard. 😉
(Spoiler alert: I cannot. But I CAN make you look fabulous holding that golf club!)

And when I get to hand golfers a printed foursome photo before they leave? Even better!

From the first tee to the final toast, golf tournaments have my heart. 💚

I love when people who propose put in extra effort to make it special. But I know it can be difficult to do it all by yourself. That's why I'm extra excited to share our new proposal packages! You just tell us when and where and my team and I will set everything up, photograph every special minute, take some beautiful engagement portraits, and then break everything down after.

I typically try to keep politics off my business page because I know that it can be very divisive. However I do want to mention that early voting is now open here in Palm Beach County.

I talked to someone the other day who said she only votes during the presidential election because the other elections don't matter. WHAT?!?! That couldn't be further from the truth!! In reality, these mid-term elections probably matter more for your day to day life. You get the chance to vote on things like city commissioners, county commissioners, state representatives, judges, and amendments. If you don't think these are important, you need to do more research!

You can visit the supervisor of elections page for info on where your early voting precinct is, what your ballot looks like (so you can research before you go!) and you can even make an appointment now! Polls are open 7am-7pm here in palm beach county. https://www.votepalmbeach.gov/167/Early-Voting

I will add that I'm not voting on party lines for this mid-term election. I meet a LOT of local politicians and meeting them in person, reading how they vote, seeing how they act in public settings, and seeing what they do for myself has motivated me to vote off party lines. I'm also voting off party lines on some of the amendments as well.

For my business, voting yes on Amendment 3 can make a BIG negative impact for many of my clients, which include nonprofit organizations and city municipalities. As a police spouse, it concerns me even more. So I am voting no on Amendment 3.

I hope that you take the time to vote asap. Take your kids so they can see the process. Do your homework. PLEASE VOTE!

I'm looking for some experienced photographers to join my team! I'm looking for 2nd photographers for larger events and associate photographers for when I can't be there myself. Last "season" (November through April) I hired other photographers for nearly 40 gigs as either a 2nd or associate photographer. I specialize in event photography for corporations and nonprofits.

I don't have the time right now to train anyone on the basics, so I need people with some event experience under their belt. Typically I work throughout South Florida (mostly Jupiter to Boca) but I do photograph things in Broward and Miami on occasion. I don't do many weddings anymore, but I would count weddings as event experience.

I do a mix of posed and candid photos. Documentary or photojournalistic type photography is great, but it can only be a part of the mix of what I do. There will be many times when you'll be asked to get people to pose for group photos. I do very early morning events and some events will end late at night.
***If you have any issues working with people who have different religions, races, sexual preferences, or political views...then you are not a good fit. ***

You will need to provide a W-9 for payment. Payments for events will be made by zelle or check. I don't use venmo or cashapp for paying employees.

Some moments stay with you long after you put the camera down. 💜

This week, I had the honor of photographing the YWCA Palm Beach County Living in Harmony Luncheon at the Hilton Palm Beach PBI, where approximately 175 attendees gathered to support a mission that deserves our attention and our voices.

Florida State Representative Debra Tendrich received the Harmony Hero Award, and keynote speaker Brown—author, mental health counselor, domestic violence advocate, and sister of Nicole Brown Simpson—shared a powerful perspective.

One of the most moving moments was the impact message from a domestic violence survivor. As she shared her story, there were tears throughout the room, including behind my camera.

It takes extraordinary courage to stand on a stage and speak about such deeply personal experiences. Her willingness to share was a powerful reminder of why this work matters—and why survivors deserve to be heard, believed, and supported.

My work brings me into rooms filled with celebration, connection, and sometimes profound emotion. It is a privilege to document the people and moments that give a mission its meaning.

Great job to Palm Beach Special Events for making all the pieces come together in such a beautiful way!
