The fall of 2005 my boyfriend and I opened Griffith Photography Studio. He’d ask me to marry him a few short weeks later and we’d tie the knot the following summer. The math says I’ve been a portrait photographer for 20 years and this coming summer, a wife for 20 years. Thank you, Allan Griffith. The man who holds onto my toes while I fly around in the wind.
The first half of this career we worked together. Our first few years in business we had weddings booked nearly every weekend of the busy season and did a handful of family and senior portraits. Then in 2006 we purchased a very old building (actually recorded to be the first church built in Greenville) and renovated it into the most beautiful studio space. We enjoyed doing business there for over 12 years. I still miss it and especially miss doing in-person sales. But as the photography industry changed, so did we, and we sold the studio in 2017 and I adapted back to doing sessions on location, of which I love the most.
I’ve photographed well over 2000 sessions and a couple hundred weddings. I’ve edited millions of portraits. It has been a beautiful opportunity to provide for our family while also constantly bringing joy to my life. I will never not be a portrait photographer. I will never not be grateful for every single session. And this beat up camera strap…it is a testimony that it’s time for a rebirth ❤️
