One of the things I never take for granted is when people see the passion I have for photography and trust me to document some of the most important milestones in their lives.

Today, Charles and Tyreescia were married, and I feel incredibly fortunate that they chose to stop by the studio right after their wedding ceremony and create a Forever Portrait.

What is that cliché saying: Long after the flowers have faded and the wedding day becomes a memory, this one-of-a-kind portrait will remain as a lasting reminder of who they were in this moment.

Decades and even centuries from now, your likeness can still be seen exactly as it was on the day the portrait was made.

This moment changed me. November 26, 2012.

There was a time when I was struggling, trying to figure out how I was going to pay my bills and make things work. I truly thought about selling my cameras just to get through it. Photography felt like a dream I might have to let go of.

Before I could part with them, I decided to take one last photo with my cameras.

I didn’t realize it then, but that photo gave something back to me. It reminded me of who I was before doubt, fear, and survival took over. What I thought was an ending became a new beginning.

Sometimes we forget our own worth until someone else sees it first. Sometimes all it takes is one moment, one reminder, one small decision to keep going.

Choosing photography didn’t just give me a career. It helped me grow into other business ventures, opened doors I never imagined, and showed me that the thing we almost walked away from might actually be the thing meant for us.

If you’re in a season where you feel stuck, uncertain, or ready to give up, maybe this is your reminder too.

Your tipping point might be closer than you think.
