Let me introduce myself a bit. My name is Nichole Welch, I'm a virtual dog trainer and have been for the past 4 years. I started my virtual training journey on GoodPup, but when they were no more I moved over to Rover/trying to branch out more on my own. I have a 6-year-old miniature dachshund named Moose, and a 7-year-old bunny named Ivar!
Prior to being a virtual trainer, I was working as a Veterinary Technician in-clinic. However, around 2020 a lot of health issues popped up and have only gotten worse, which sadly gave me no choice but to leave my in-clinic job and move over to virtual, which has actually been quite a blessing as I get to meet people and their pups from all over the world.
My focus is on positive-reinforcement and relationship-based techniques with my training, because it builds a stronger, healthier bond between owner and pet. I say pet because I have also worked with a bunny before and would also work with cats! The stronger the the relationship is with you and your animal, the more confident they become with you, and the smoother training goes for you both.
The virtual aspect just enhances all of that, as there are less distractions in-person. Instead of having your pup and you both getting to know me in-person or outside distractions, training becomes focused on just you and your pet, with me guiding from afar. This adds a little extra safety and confidence to your animal while they're training.
