10 years ago today (5/24/16), the legendary Dodge City, KS tornadic supercell complex produced upwards of 12+ tornadoes. Two (2) of the tornadoes were rated EF-3, including one which resulted in DDC issuing a tornado emergency for Dodge City itself (it stayed west of the city itself). Fortunately, there were no fatalities.

10 years ago yesterday (5/23/2016), the view of the backend of the mesocyclone of a supercell thunderstorm near Turkey, TX on 5/23/16 (forgive the bit of fog, but it was raining at the time). This same supercell produced an EF3 tornado south of Turkey that evening as well as near continuous lightning. Mentioned in the past we tried to take the road south near rain free base, but CG strikes were too intense. Ultimately, meso retrograde to our position in Turkey as the EF3 tornado developed & moved at us, resulting in a hasty retreat thru constant CG & flooded/winding roads.

10 years ago today (5/21/16), a long-lived, nearly stationary tornadic supercell occurred near Leoti, KS. It was one of the more impressive mothership supercell thunderstorms you will see & provided for a great example of why many of us chase storms. It was the 1st event in one of the more memorable 5-day stretches of storm chasing in this century:
