Just a bunny enjoying some dinner before the sun sets and the storm rolls in. Dinner first, then a well deserved night of rest. 😊

So many things eat these guys. I’m sure it’s tough being one!

This is an old pic, from 2018, that I never posted. You can tell it’s older, because of my copyright signature at the bottom. Haha. I don’t put those on pics, anymore! 🤣 The second slide is the same picture, but the edit is a bit spookier. 👻 I edited that picture a few minutes before making this post. 😊

Happy World Snake Day!!!!! Check out this dope picture of my baby boy Sqishy!!!!!!! He’s a Banana Pinstripe Yellowbelly Royal Python. That’s three separate genes in one GORGEOUS baby snakey!!! 😊😊😊😊😊

Here are some fun facts about Royal (Ball) Pythons courtesy of the internet!

Fun Facts

1. These snakes are called ball pythons because of their defensive posture of coiling into a tight ball with their heads protected in the center of the coil.

2. The ball python, known scientifically as Python regius, is highly revered in some parts of Africa. It’s a python species that’s endemic to sub-Saharan Africa that thrives in warm, tropical regions.

3. The name royal python is believed to be derived from the fact that many African rulers were known to have worn live pythons as jewelry.

4. Ball pythons are non-venomous constrictor snakes that are the smallest of the African pythons. They have bold, blotchy patterning that helps to camouflage their bodies and reduce the risk of predation in the wild.

5. The royal python is America’s most popular pet snake. There are currently 5300+ ball python color morphs. Captive-born ball pythons are free of parasites and healthier than wild-caught snakes.

6. Ball pythons are believed to live the longest of snakes species in managed situations, with some individuals living into their forties. @ Las Cruces, New Mexico

Tried something new recently! The first image is the finished product. The second is the same as the first except for the addition of some artificial “Gaussian blur” to separate the flowers from everything else in the background. I was really interested in how it may look. What do y’all think? 🤔 The third image is the original picture with no editing. What a difference right?!?! This is the most time and effort I’ve ever put into creating an image. If you have ever tried using before, you know how daunting it can be. Figuring out what all the tools are, how to best use them, where they even are in the first place...Lol! 😅🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thank you for creating a tutorial of how you continuously create such amazing work! I’m so glad I bought it! Your teachings showed me how to accomplish quite a few tasks that I couldn’t figure out before! I now better understand how I can use photoshop to bring my creative side to life. I’ve had so many ideas that I couldn’t quite make real, because of my lack of skill! I just got that much closer to doing just that!!! Thanks, again! I can’t wait to create even more images just like this!!! Guys and gals, if you haven’t checked out her page before, you definitely should go give it a look!!! 😁 @ Las Cruces, New Mexico

Night with the Skin Walkers.

You may be wondering what inspired the title of the work. Haha. Well, my lovely friend, Krys (the lady squatting on the left) kept mentioning “skin walkers” which are some kind of demon or something. Lol. I can’t really tell you, because I didn’t look it up. Demons and other scary stuff aren’t really my thing. Haha. Had me SHOOK! 😭 ...Jerk...Towards the end of the hike, I was by myself for a few minutes while I captured my final two pictures. To say I was worried would be a massive understatement. I tried my best to maintain my composure and avoid sprinting back to the vehicles with my gear. 😖 The rocky, uneven terrain would have surely been unforgiving to me if I happened to lose my footing. I honestly cannot believe I made it back in one piece! 😭💪🏽🙏🏽 I’m looking forward to more adventures! 😊

The really prominent “star” at the top of the background of this frame is our closest galactic neighbor Andromeda. From NASA - “Andromeda, also known as Messier 31 (M31), is a spiral galaxy located about 2.5 million light years away. It is thought that the Milky Way and Andromeda will collide several billion years from now. The black holes located in both galaxies will then reside in the large, elliptical galaxy that results from this merger.”

Doe.
This was a fun day. I went up to Drippings Springs Natural Area for a short walk and to capture photos of the hummingbirds. (I have an uncountable number of photo of those little guys.) One of the on duty rangers noticed me capturing photos and offered to give me a tour of the area behind the visitor’s center where they lived. This area is fenced off and usually off-limits to the public, so I happily accepted the opportunity. The ranger took me down a path leading to an open, uncovered concrete pad with two tables. She stated that it was an area they occasionally used for gatherings. A little further down was an old cellar, dug into the mountain side back during the prohibition. It was used to hide alcohol from the man. Going some distance more, we came across an old home that had been gutted and abandoned. At the time, there were still construction items left inside. We spent some time around this building talking before she had to get back to her ranger duties and so left me to explore to my hearts content. I spent a few hours in the area wandering around snapping pictures before finally deciding to leave...That’s when I came across this female deer foraging behind the abandoned home. I instantly froze in place fearing I’d scare her away like all the other women in my life. I held up my camera, attached was the heavy Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6 which quickly made its presence known. Snap! Snap snap snap!!! I managed to grab a handful of shots before she sauntered away and disappeared into the brush. On the way out, I snapped a few more pics of random critters that I encountered. On the way out, I ran into a gentleman and talked for quite awhile. I’d say around an hour. The Spring sun at this point had started burning my skin. (Yes. Black people burn.) We finished our chat and went our separate ways. @ Dripping Springs Natural Area, Organ Mountains

Happy second birthday to my baby boy, Sqishy! I’m a little late with this post, because I fell asleep and slept through golden hour. I planned to have a nice sunset shoot with my son here, but the universe had other plans. Hahahaha. 😅 Instead, I found myself in a bit of a rush trying to snap a few pics with the remaining light before darkness fell and officially closed out the day. These flowers are all over my apartment complex. Most of them are white or burgundy. A few weeks ago, I noticed these were pink instead of the usual color. I’ve lived here for almost two years and had never noticed these before despite the numerous occasions passing near that particular area. I knew upon seeing these that I just HAD to stop and take some pictures with them!!! 😱😱😱😱😱 Once again, Happy Birthday to my main man, Sqishy. You are officially two now. It’s amazing to see how much bigger you have gotten since the first day you arrived in the mail! I wish you many more healthy happy years little dude! 😊 - Love Pop. 😘 @ Las Cruces, New Mexico
