This is a call for entries for the first showing of work at Counterspace, a new gallery aimed at showing photography, opening soon at Emergency Arts downtown.
The first exhibition of work will be comprised of Hipstamatic/Instagram images. These images will be submitted by artists via email, printed by Counterspace, and then displayed salon style in the gallery beginning the October 7, 2011. Images will be printed at 12x12” and will not be framed, but rather hung studio style. These curated images will be up for display during the October First Friday on October 7, 2011, and will remain up through the end of the month.
I am asking you to email me any images you think would be suitable for such an exhibition. There are no content restrictions per se. I am hoping the lot of the collected images will show a diversity of experiences and perspectives. To submit your work, please email the highest resolution images to Tony Flanagan at [email protected] by Tuesday, October 4. Include your Name, any titles you may have for your images, and any other metadata that you deem pertinent. Pleas be aware, that submission of images does not guarantee placement in the exhibition.
Submission of images gives Counterspace license to sell the images for $40 each, with half of the sale going to the artist. Any unsold images may be picked up by the artist at the end of the exhibition at the cost of $5 each, to cover the cost of printing. Any unclaimed images will become property of Counterspace and will be available for future sale at $40 each, with half of the sale going to the artist.
