So great to be a part of this event last night! It really does take a village to make rescue work. If you've ever spent any time around a Weimaraner, you know just how awesome they are!

This years calendar contest holds a special meaning for me as I submit Stoli's pic for fundraising. Anyone who remotely knows me, or has looked at my page for more than 1.3 seconds during the last 9 years knows how much that boy meant to me. If it wasn't for Mile High Weimaraner Rescue doing the work they do for these beautiful dogs, I would have never had the joy he brought me...and so many who followed his adventures over the years.

I've been on a photography hiatus due to focusing on my aging boy Stoli and his fight with cancer. However, being the executive producer he is, he recently gave me permission to get back behind the lens for two select projects. "Sticks," and "Superheros."

These are publishing projects for commercial print, so the breeds I'm looking for are specific, BUT if your pup can hold a stick and or hold still for more than .03 seconds, post a pic and you may be selected for a free photoshoot and potentially all the fame that comes with being a Superhero!

One of the main reasons I embraced photography is for the emotional evocation it brings people. When you can touch others through a photo, it's an amazing thing. Colorado State University has asked to permanently display this photograph in their "comfort room."
I call it "Bonded Compassion."
The hope is that it will bring peace and comfort to those going through difficult and challenging times with their pets. The dog photographed here, Ripley, is no longer with us, but this moment is, forever. Thank you to her parents Rick and Trish Morris for allowing me, and now so many others, to be a part of it.
