A lot of directing has nothing to do with telling someone where to put their hands.

You’re managing the energy of the room.

Sometimes that means being loud and bringing the energy up. Sometimes it means slowing everything down. Sometimes it’s cracking a joke, changing the music, or knowing when to stop talking altogether.

Even when it doesn’t look like I’m directing, im reading the room.

Because if you can control the energy, you can create the moment.

And then all you have to do is capture it.

Note to self:

Stop worrying about what if it DOESN’T.

Shift your focus to what if it does.

What if it DOES work out?

What if it DOES happen exactly like you thought it would?

And when it does happen, can that version of you manage what comes with it?

It’s not about lying to yourself or “faking it till you make it”.

There’s a level of belief where you know exactly who you are and what you’re capable of.

It’s just up to you to be that version of you.
