Dolly

i found out at the beginning of my therapy session. Thank God for that and my gay therapist who helped me remember some things about Dolly that i just wanted to share in her honor.

This is the dolly that I first fell in love with as a child. This was the dolly that was making this little gay boy in Georgia feel loved no matter who he was.

She was one of the first and very few voices that loved the gay community in public… she loved us for who we were and made sure we knew it. In a world where everyone around us was unsafe…

Dolly made us feel so safe.

I got the opportunity to work at Dollywood, but never met her, but spent a glorious Christmas in the Smoky Mountains.

I cater-waitered the wedding of a German Princess and she was one of the guests. I walked past her a couple of times, but never could say hello.

I was also in the The Studio audience of this performance and when I tell you, she took us to church…

Everyone would always express how there was always a glowing light around her where she went, and I can attest to seeing that many times. And that Light made everyone on the earth feel loved.

Farewell Dolly Parton, wait till you see the shrine I’m going to make 💁🏼‍♀️💅🏻
