We have had really good times with Peter Cullen over the years while shooting his photo ops. He was wonderful to us as well as his fans. Thanks Diecast Super Convention and Vegastoycon for letting us be apart of the team that brought Peter Cullen out to meet and take photos with all his fans!
Peter Cullen has sadly passed away at age 85. He is the iconic voice of many characters including Optimus Prime.
His agent confirmed that Cullen died Wednesday at his home in Los Angeles.
Cullen became legendary as the voice of Optimus Prime, first bringing the Autobot leader to life in the original Transformers animated series during the 1980s. His deep, commanding voice became inseparable from the character, and he continued returning to the role across movies, television series and video games for more than four decades.
His career extended far beyond Transformers. Cullen also voiced Eeyore in numerous Winnie the Pooh projects and contributed memorable voice work to several other films and television series.
For generations of fans, Peter Cullen wasn’t just the voice of Optimus Prime - he was Optimus Prime.
Rest in peace, Peter Cullen.
