KAPELYA drops in three days. FEB 22. Here is a taste of “Hu Elokeinu”, the nigun that showed me there was no turning back with this project.
There is so much I can share about this. About releasing my “pretty voice”. About trusting it was okay enough to listen to my true, simple, sometimes strong, sometimes soft, always here, voice. Listening with presence. Not telling her to clap her hands. Not shutting her up. Not telling her she can sing if she looks pretty enough or sounds pretty enough. Deep breaths of release, of relief. Permission to scream. Permission to be in quiet with these prayer songs. Permission to commune intimately with them. Permission to be as powerful as is true in the moment, permission to rest in between.
A deep surrender to listening, and showing up soul first.
