It’s been a minute since I’ve done a close up post so I figured I’d grab some ultra close ups of some of my recent sessions because these always fascinate me.

Im also toying around with the idea of doing some live videos in the future to maybe do an editing session start to finish to kind of show some behind the scenes from raw photo to final edit. If I can find the courage to do it haha I’ve never done a live video before and the introvert in me says it would be a complete disaster lol. So we shall see what happens

Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far!!!

Thought it would be fun to share a collection of double iris collages. Each one of these collages is the same human being with both their left and right irises photographed.

A lot of times I get asked how do I know which eye to get photographed. I typically have clients look into my iris viewer to see which eye stands out. For the most part they can be very similar to each other as seen in some of these collages, while other times there can be more noticeable differences.

Sometimes one iris might have a freckle that the other iris doesn’t have, or maybe they both have freckles but one has larger freckles or more freckles.

Or you could be crazy lucky and have complete heterochromia and one eye be brown and the other one be green!

Either way both of your eyes are unique and will never be exactly the same left to right.

So now im curious, if you had the chance to do an iris session and had to choose, would you do your left eye or your right eye and why?

Can’t wait to hear which one you’d choose and why you selected that particular eye!

Bonus points for posting pics of your eyes in the comments even if it’s just a cell phone photo or a photo you had done with another iris photographer, I’d love to see your eyes!

Last August I had done a 5 iris session for the super amazing Hutton family. Well they had a few more family members in town for the 4th of July and stopped by my studio to get more of their family irises captured with the end goal of creating a family tree 🌲

Here is Tristan with his 3 daughters irises. So many stunning colors and details!!!

Stay tuned because soon I’ll be sharing their family tree collage with 3 generations of irises all in one image.

Thanks again for booking another family session with me Hutton family!!! You guys are amazing and it was so fun getting all of your family’s eyes together for a family tree collage!!!!

As many of you have seen, my last remaining grandmother passed away recently and we had her funeral. My aunt Jenai from Florida had flown in to be with grandma her last few days and then stayed in Utah for the funeral. Since she was in town and had been wanting to get a session done, we made it happen.

We photographed her eye, her hubby Daryl’s eye, and my cousin Dallas eye.

The couple collages are of Jenai and Daryl and the single iris is of Dallas.

Now I need to start expanding my family tree that I had created and start adding a lot of these other branches as I start to collect them!

My dear friend Christie came in for an updated session and to do her other iris also. I originally photographed Christie when I was first starting out on my iris journey and my shooting and editing style had evolved a lot since then, so we went for round two.

It was so fun seeing how similar both of her irises were to each other! With all the amazing crypt structures and the subtle green undertones.

Christie also brought her daughter in to have both of her irises done as well. So the first set of eyes you’ll see are Christie’s, then the darker brown eyes are her daughters. Then the last few pics are of their eyes together.

Thanks again for always supporting me Christie and for being such an amazing friend by always liking and commenting on my iris posts and personal posts. You are a good human and im so glad we crossed paths.

I don’t know how it is that I get to work with so many amazing and adorable couples, but im super grateful.

These two gorgeous irises belong to Kieley and Kyle. Kieley booked the session as a surprise for her husband Kyle’s birthday and he had no idea what was happening until he walked into the studio!

Here’s what they had to share with me on their intake form….

“We’ve been married for 3 years and together for 5. We met at work and Kyle was my trainer. One day I went to his house… and then never left and the rest is history! I Think we can both agree the coolest things we have seen with our eyes, is Gods beautiful creations in nature!”

Kyle and me got to geek out a little bit over drones which was super fun haha.

Anyways here are some of my favorites from their session and I don’t normally post the raw photos but I had to show you how epic Kieley’s eyeshadow was at the session! *peep the last photo in the post.

Thanks again for booking a session with me you two love birds. I super appreciate you guys.

Here’s a double session I did for Erik and Heather.

Here’s what they had to say about themselves when filling out my intake form

“We love gothic things. Dark and moody. We love emo music and we are best friends. The most amazing thing we have seen is each other”

These guys were so fun to work with and they both had been wanting to do these pics for a while after seeing it on a cruise they went on. However whenever they went to do it, the booth was closed, so im glad they found me when they got back to Utah and finally had the chance to get their irises photographed.

Here are some of my favorites from their session

After the energy healing conference, I was finally back in my studio and had a family of 3 come in for a triple iris session. Say hello to the Lombardi family! Such a fun mix of colors between the three of them and im glad I was able to get these photos for them so they can get a nice family collage hung in their house which is gonna be a beautiful and “eye catching” piece of art for sure!!!

My final session for the Layton energy healing conference was a double session for an amazing human named Marika

Chocolate honeys eyes with one noticeable crypt in one of her irises and both irises featuring contraction furrows! Contraction furrows are those rings or halos. Marika calls them her tree trunk eyes and now that I heard her say that, they really do resemble tree trunks and tree rings! That has now motivated me to get back out into nature this year to start compiling and taking more nature photos to create more collages with!

Thanks again for supporting my small business Marika and for helping to keep me motivated to continue creating and growing just like a tree trunk!
