Waugh's World Photography

Waugh's World Photography I am an amateur photographer and this is my window on the world. Hey there! Welcome to Waugh's World Photography. Not every shot is perfect, but each one is real.

As a history grad with a camera and a love for exploration, I'm capturing the world around me - one snapshot at a time. Inspired by Jimmy Buffett's cover of the song "Window on the World," this page is my personal canvas for telling stories. Sometimes that means documenting a local street scene, catching the morning light on my hometown's buildings, or freezing a moment that feels quietly signific

ant. My history background means I'm always looking for the narrative behind the image - the small details that tell a bigger story. I'm an amateur photographer with a historian's curiosity. Some days I'm chasing interesting light, other days I'm trying to capture the unexpected beauty in ordinary moments. This isn't about epic travel adventures - it's about seeing the extraordinary in the everyday. Whether it's a local park, a neighborhood street, or a random moment that catches my eye, I'm here to share my perspective. Photographers, storytellers, curious souls - all are welcome. Drop a comment, share your thoughts, or just enjoy the view. Let's explore the world right in front of us, one click at a time. 📸

Cheers,
Chris

Going through my pictures from my trip to Kansas in Feb (yes, I'm still editing) and decided to post this one. Not sure which I like better. Anyway, it's always kinda cool to come across stuff when you are roaming.

Today's adventures were tough. Nelson Mandela has a quote that goes "I never lose. I either win or I learn" (which is a quote I really love and try to take to hear) and yesterday was a learning day.

I started at the range shooting paper targets, and let's just say, this is why you don't mess with your sights without the proper tools. While not all of them were in the circles, I think I at least kept them on the paper.

I then moved on to birds (specifically looking for more Bald Eagles) with the goal of getting more comfortable & better with my Nixon P950. Was about as successful as I was at the range. At least, I did see more eagles than last time (they were either high above or on the ice & my camera didn't like that too much), got to see some Turkey Vultures, and got some decent pics.

Anyway, I learned somethings, so it wasn't a waste.

Enjoy.

Went out yesterday to play with my camera. I'm trying to get better with its settings, so everything I shot was in manual mode. To make the situation even more fun, I was shooting in full sun from 11 A.M. - 1 P.M. with no clouds. As my photography mentor, John Locus, has taught me, take the shot & you work with the light you've got & that's what I did. While I still had to do some editing in Photoshop, I happy with how the pics came out.

It has been forever since I've been able to get out and take some fun photos, so when an opportunity for a photo safari comes along, I'm there. Thanks to my friend Locus Photography for setting up this safari. We all had a great time & more pictures to come.
