Here is a photo of Webster topping out the chimney pitch of the Bergner/Stanley route on Prusik Peak a little over a week ago. If you don’t mind long walks in the woods then you really should go experience the Enchantments. Especially now that the larch trees are starting to turn electric yellow!

I couldn’t keep this photo stuck in the depths of my hard drive - especially after I saw some photos from this weekend up there on Scott Rinckenberger’s Instagram.

5.9 chimney. That phrase is enough to make even the most experienced alpinist cringe. You never really know what to expect until you get to the bottom of it. Here is Skander - a new friend I met on the Bergner/Stanley route this weekend - showing us just what it is like to slither your way up a chimney that’s not even wide enough to get you shoulders into. I love this photo because it really gives you an idea of what it’s like to do this type of climbing. This is a full body experience, and some of the most physical - and brutal climbing you can do! Thanks Skander for letting me shoot some photos of you while were scraping and grunting your way up!

...Insert inspirational quote here...Just kidding, that's not really my style! How amazing is it that we have these winter playgrounds just minutes off of Interstate 90? Here's Jeff doing the final traverse to the walk off of Snoqualmie Mountain after having climbed the classic New York Gully on Sunday. There's not much better than a fun mixed climb in the Cascade range with Mt Rainier watching in the background.

How was everyone's Christmas? I know mine was filled with family, fun and appreciation for the time Jesus spent on earth. I got a dropper seat post for Christmas! So here's a picture of Alyssa riding her favorite section of The Whole Enchilada back in October. I hope everyone had a great Christmas.

Yeah, so Zion. It really is a place worth calling a National Park. Here is a photo I took while visiting there a couple of years ago. That place just seems like an oasis in the desert. I was amazed by the mix of green vegetation and red sandstone both times I've been there. This was taken on Memorial Day weekend in 2014, and I found it in the archives needing to be freed from the hard drive! Who has been to Zion before, and what was your favorite thing about it?

Clear skies, bright moon and snow-covered conifers. Yep, it was worth the 5:00am wake up call this morning. Boy was it cold though! Here's one of the joys of dawn patrol. Thanks Alyssa and Brant for being crazy and skinning up Mt Spokane with me today!

Let's be honest, 90% of time spent backcountry skiing isn't getting face shots in freshly fallen pow. Most of the time spent in an outing is on the skin track. I guess that explains why I have so many skinning photos! Here's to having ski partners that you like to spend time with on the skin track! Who else enjoys that time connecting on the way up? Thanks Jill and Philip for letting me take your picture!

Woohoo! I love winter! Here's a selfie so good I needed both of my selfie sticks to get it done...or maybe it was because my camera is big and heavy 😜 Either way, who's excited to play in the snow this winter!?

Last weekend was the first time in my skis since last July, and it felt like it :) Here's a photo that represents everyone's mood on Sunday up at Kootenay Pass in southern BC. We had a great group that had a fun, safe and powdery day in the mountains! I'm super grateful for a group that was willing to listen to everyone's concerns and desires and make everyone's day great! I'm also grateful for everyone's honest analysis of our decision making process and be willing to admit that there were things we can do better next time we're out, because all of our biggest priority is to live to ski powder another day.
