Working from my favorite office today… pretty much my forever favorite place! I grew up on this lake. My first job was at Fairholm when I was 14 and I got to work alongside my grandma taking the boat to work, flipping burgers and filling up boats with fuel. I grew up yelling “yoooohooooo” as loud as we could in unison from our dock with my family to our friends at their cabins down the lake that could hear the echo, waiting for the same reply shortly after. I remember stormy days and my brother and I would float for hours in the waves, promptly followed by a hot bath (but we had to be out before grandpa was home!). I remember co-ed sleepovers with my friends on the dock in high school and constantly dragging my mattress down there to sleep next to the water alone other nights. To watch the stars. To fall asleep to the gentle lapping of the waves against the shore. To wake up with the sun. I remember christmases and the smell of our fireplace. Blasting music all day while we lived in our bathing suits. When grandpa would get home from work, sitting on his lap by the fire. And when he passed away when I was 10, I would still sit there. I remember Grandma giving us cake for breakfast and my mom always protesting. And although our cabin was at the other end of this lake, I remember taking the boat to this dock with my family for happy hour and to jump off of it. This lake is in my bones and in every part of my life. When I was 18 we lost the cabin but I find myself so drawn to being here. To recharge. To soak it all in even though I don’t live here anymore. This is not only my favorite office but this is home.
I’ve been lucky enough to share this place with friends visiting and clients from all over the world. If only in hopes that they are able to tuck away a little bit of its magic. This gorgeous elopement from this last fall was no exception!
Do you know where this is?! 😉
