Two emo kids and a Halloween wedding day 🤭
So much fun and never a dull moment. I dressed up as Austin Powers and baby, that polyester was something else 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Ready for another one like this 💘

Why does the location seem like the first thing to fade from memories?

Seeing faces makes it easiest to know who is in the picture, but not always where it was taken. A yard becomes unfamiliar, houses get sold, scenery changes...

I love photographing families in environments they already spend time in, and I always try to capture the aspects that make them memorable to me.
What would I want to remember about this place?

Kitchens explain more about a family than almost any other room in the house.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
They show where people naturally gather. Which chair is someone’s favorite because it’s just a little more faded than the others. The little things that get left on the counter because they get used every day.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s the place in houses where everyone eventually passes through at some point, even if they start somewhere else.

Scottish weddings are FUN✨💫 every part of this wedding was unique and thought out. And is a dream venue. Love that you can have your wedding guests stay on site with you and they offer many full service options like catering and bar service as well. Cocktail hour overlooking the bay where the Orcas came in earlier that morning. The vibes are just so good around there 🙌👌

My grandma spent years researching our family history.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
She kept notes about relatives I had never met and places I had never been. When she was in the thick of her research, I was young, and it mostly felt like background information from another generation.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Then she passed away when I was 18, and every year since, I’ve realized how unusual it was to grow up with that much context about the people you came from. And how lucky I am that she ALWAYS wrote names on the back of old photos.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Going through her huge archive of family photos has changed the way I think about photography.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I always try to be in the moment with what I’m seeing, but I’m also conscious about what someone two generations from now might want to understand about the people in front of my camera — not just what looks good right now. I want then to really SEE who this person was.

I hope someday, when they’re old, someone pulls up this video, and it transports them right back.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The best time with their friends on their annual camping trip. Lake activities, playing pickleball, cold sandwiches, making homemade pizza, a wild bingo game, dirty sodas, camp fires and endless laughing. So many memories.

Everybody still young, still around. All the best dogs still kicking.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I love filming things like this. It’s an experience I will never take for granted.

Cover photo taken from my waterproof film camera while I took a turn on the intertube 😂🤘🏻

Courthouse weddings used to have a little bit of a reputation. They came off last-minute, a little rushed, sometimes tied to timing or circumstance, like something you had to do or with details you’d figure out later.

Now it feels like the opposite, to me! People are choosing this option with purpose and intention. Skipping the seating charts, invitations, opinions and years of planning. Instead, they choose to show up, sign some papers, say a few words and walk out married! They’re left with the rest of the day to do whatever they want! Whether that is going out for a nice meal, to a dive bar for a drink, an after party with friends or even home for a nap. All the options are on the table.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s whatever they want it to be. And I think it’s kind of perfect.
Shot these on 35mm film 💘
