This shoot was a Staged Photography 1st.
At one point three of the four subjects were crying at the same time! (Insert eye roll and a where do we go from here look from Dad). The littles (1 and 3 years old) were just not having it that day. It happens. Mama eventually broke out in tears too! You know the feeling, you planned so well for something that was important to you but you forgot to factor in the The Toddler Effect. It’s real.
Being a mom is hard, exhausting and often frustrating. This was one of those days.
So Tanvi and I made some adjustments. A little more time spent (ok, a lot more but we were, as we always are, focused on the results) a few hugs, some walking around to explore the gardens and, I’m not gonna lie, a few mini M&M’s and we were back on track. Truthfully, the littles cried off and on the whole shoot. Mom stayed strong (way to go Mom…we see your strength). When we finally wrapped the shoot there were sticky hugs and lots of thank you’s. Both Mom and Dad said we fully anticipate that this shoot from hell (their words not ours…we get toddlers and how they don’t always love getting their photo’s taken) will yield zero usable images. 35 gorgeous and very usable images later they were quite surprised by what we were able to pull off. Me, I had no doubts. Tanvi and I are committed to creating something unique and beautiful with each session and we do what it takes to make that happen. Here’s a few from the shoot.
