So Daddy rakes a giant bundle of leaves, then the neighborhood kids descend upon our backyard to have themselves a time.

Naturally, I made sure my camera was nearby.
I have others, but this is the first image I wanted to share - my little guy hamming it up and making a goofy face.

Here's the rescue that we brought to Kansas City from Tucson. My son's constant companion and cuddle buddy at bedtime. Bailey is peculiar, irritatingly vocal at times, but also probably the most loving and darling dog I have ever known.

And she eats p**p. No matter how hard I try to control it.

My little guy and I ventured out to the park for 'round two' with some success! We took maybe fifteen minutes in two different locations, then went to the playground for a rousing game of hide-and-seek.

It was funny, actually, because a lot of commercial photographers (all of these ragamuffins without permits) were out at the park today. And they had the nerve to try and bully me into leaving "[their] work area while [they're] with clients."

I didn't hesitate to flash my NPPA card and ask if they had a proper permit, at which point they high-tailed it so that I could enjoy my time with my son.

Some people have all the nerve, and shrink when they're called on their bu****it. Knowledge is power. GI Joe for the win.

Yesterday my son and I had a little adventure, culminating in getting his favorite chocolate at my workplace, exploring a new park new my new job location, with an agreement that we could spend five minutes making our annual autumn portrait.

I've been taking his portrait at Shawnee Mission Park around this time of year every year. And if it ain't broke...

This photograph is after five minutes sitting in the car, calming ourselves down after weeping and crying and refusing to cooperate with our fall picture. Mind you, our staging area is probably ten yards outside under a tree. Cute as a button and calm as can be here, after an utter failure to compose ourselves outside.

Little man is certainly becoming unpredictably willful.
He really is my son. Yeesh!

Young W***y Wonka, Illustration

Seeing as how my last painting was of The Joker, I guess I have to recognize that I have a thing for guys who wear purple coats. Enjoy!

I really wanted to like it, folks. I enjoyed the first one so gosh-darn much. It almost feels like Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix were trying to give Hollywood the middle finger for motivating a sequel where none was ever intended...maybe that's the joke.

Movie looks flippin' beautiful, though. I can't deny that.

Standing beneath the mineral processor along the state route outside of Bisbee, Arizona. Evidence of my trespassing crime from twenty or so years ago. This rotting piece of concrete and steel has existed on the landscape for years but, just like The City of South Bisbee, is being erased from the world.

I'm glad I gathered some photographs, all those years ago.

To all things an end, I suppose, as I see video footage of this archaic mining structures being razed to the ground. Always around the curve on SR 80, just outside of Historic Bisbee, these concrete structures stood watch over the open-pit mine.

I photographed this monstrous sentinels twenty years ago, now knowing that they will likely not be there the next time I find opportunity to visit.
