These two spectacular humans booked a sunflower mini session with me the first year I offered them in 2018. Since then, they've done sunflower minis every year, a handful of home sessions, an anniversary session, and multiple branding sessions for Meg, the author of SO MANY romance novels. These two people and the pets they've had along the way are so lovely that I see them as true friends rather than clients. I was so lucky to have Meg and Dan, plus their puppies Dazey and Ginny, as my last sunflower mini for the year this year.

I look at these and it's easy to forget that we had storms on all sides of us, the wind was starting to whip up, and it was more than a little warm and humid. But that's the magic of having a happy, loving family in front of my camera! I always look at the photos I take through the rosiest of glasses because I know how much I enjoyed my time taking them. And that's true for every session. I honestly believe that any 'talent' I have in regards to photography is my talent to see people as their true, beautiful selves, and I get to have the joy of documenting those people. (Sorry, that was cheesy, but it's just how I feel.)

In May, Paityn and Caden exchanged vows and made it official in the beautiful setting of Rocky Mountain National Park, and we were able to get some stunning photos of them then. But this reception was a chance for them to take family portraits and celebrate their marriage with their loved ones, complete with toasts, first dances, and a cake cutting.

Very few things will top an elopement in the mountains, but being able to meet the families that raised these two lovely people was quite nice.

One of my best friends in the world is an incredibly talented photographer (Beth Parkhill) who also happened to plan, design, and build a stunning studio on her family's land just outside Omaha, NE. I was thrilled when one of the Taylor Trio weekend trips took us to Omaha and we could coordinate with Beth to do some family photos, some branding photos for me, and best of all, some branding photos of her in her amazing studio space! When I talk about why I don't 'niche down' in photography, I talk about how much I love watching families grow and grow up in front of my camera. This newborn session was just the latest example where I started out as their engagement photographer, then wedding photographer, then the gender reveal, maternity, and newborn photographer. It's Sunflower Mini time again!

Details are as follows:

Date: September 6, 2026
Session: 10 minutes
5pm-8pm
5 minute buffer between sessions
Cost: $175, reflects $125 session fee and a $50 donation to Harvesters (receipt for your donation provided)
Location: Grinter Farms (exact location provided upon booking)

When I did the math, it seemed that I first took Eli's photos at a family session when he was in 4th grade, but now he's a senior, and there's no way that much time has passed, so I'm going to assume my math was incorrect. (I included a photo at the end of Eli at said first session so you can decide whether or not he was a 4th grader at that time.)

Both then and now, Eli has always had the coolest personality; he's smart, clever, inquisitive, talented, well-read, and well-spoken. Watching him grow up in front of my camera has been an absolute privilege, and I so appreciate all he's taught me in our sessions...like how difficult it is to smolder while laughing.
