My journey into photography started as a need for a creative outlet—something beyond spreadsheets, emails, and the structured world of data and tech that I work in daily. When I picked up my first SLR camera, I quickly realized that I wasn’t just drawn to taking photos, but also to the technical and artistic process behind them. Photography became a way to blend creativity with my analytical side,
and I’ve never looked back. During my college senior capstone in mathematics, I found a way to merge math, technology, and photography by capturing light pollution over cityscapes. That love for astronomy and the night sky has stuck with me, inspiring the branding for my business today. For over a decade, I photographed friends and family as a hobby, capturing their stories in small but meaningful moments. But after my daughter was born, I had a new perspective—I wanted to set an example for her. Whatever dreams she has one day, I want her to at least try for them. And so, I decided to take the leap, turning my passion for photography into something real. My Approach
I know that being in front of a camera isn’t second nature for most people. That’s why I focus on making sessions fun, relaxed, and comfortable. I give guidance when needed, but I also let moments unfold naturally—because that’s where the magic happens. Whether it’s siblings making goofy faces, kids running wild, or a couple lost in a quiet moment together, I love capturing the interactions that truly reflect your family. Growing up in Eastern Kentucky, professional photos weren’t a big part of our lives. Instead, we had albums filled with real, candid memories—family gatherings on Granny’s back porch, plates in hand, laughing at something our goofy uncle said. That’s the kind of energy I want to bring to my sessions. Of course, we’ll get the classic posed shots for your wall, but I also want to capture the moments that feel like home—the ones you’ll look back on and remember exactly how it felt. I’m not in this to be the highest-paid photographer in town. I’m here to build genuine connections, meet incredible families, and provide an option for people who just want beautiful, meaningful photos without all the stress. The Details Matter
Before starting my own business, I worked as a second photographer for a wedding photography company, and that experience trained my eye to see what others might miss. I notice the details—the stray hair, the untucked pocket, the crumb on the corner of a toddler’s mouth. My approach is simple: I ask myself, “Would I want this photo of myself? My daughter?” If the answer isn’t a confident yes, I adjust, refine, and make sure we get the shot that you’ll love. Lexington has always felt like home to me. It’s where I met my husband, where I had my daughter, where I’ve built my closest friendships. And when it came time to brand my business, I knew I wanted to tie in my lifelong love for space. That’s how my logo was born—a little nod to the night sky and the passion that has shaped my journey. I’d love to help capture your family’s moments—both the big, beautiful portraits and the small, in-between ones that make life so special.
