Jaclyn Harper Photos www.jaclynharperphotos.com About Me

Hi, I’m Jaclyn Harper, the photographer behind Jaclyn Harper Photos. Of my mom? My husband? Why Jaclyn Harper Photos?

My journey into photography started as a need for a creative outlet—something beyond spreadsheets, emails, and the structured world of data and tech that I work in daily. When I picked up my first SLR camera, I quickly realized that I wasn’t just drawn to taking photos, but also to the technical and artistic process behind them. Photography became a way to blend creativity with my analytical side,

and I’ve never looked back. During my college senior capstone in mathematics, I found a way to merge math, technology, and photography by capturing light pollution over cityscapes. That love for astronomy and the night sky has stuck with me, inspiring the branding for my business today. For over a decade, I photographed friends and family as a hobby, capturing their stories in small but meaningful moments. But after my daughter was born, I had a new perspective—I wanted to set an example for her. Whatever dreams she has one day, I want her to at least try for them. And so, I decided to take the leap, turning my passion for photography into something real. My Approach

I know that being in front of a camera isn’t second nature for most people. That’s why I focus on making sessions fun, relaxed, and comfortable. I give guidance when needed, but I also let moments unfold naturally—because that’s where the magic happens. Whether it’s siblings making goofy faces, kids running wild, or a couple lost in a quiet moment together, I love capturing the interactions that truly reflect your family. Growing up in Eastern Kentucky, professional photos weren’t a big part of our lives. Instead, we had albums filled with real, candid memories—family gatherings on Granny’s back porch, plates in hand, laughing at something our goofy uncle said. That’s the kind of energy I want to bring to my sessions. Of course, we’ll get the classic posed shots for your wall, but I also want to capture the moments that feel like home—the ones you’ll look back on and remember exactly how it felt. I’m not in this to be the highest-paid photographer in town. I’m here to build genuine connections, meet incredible families, and provide an option for people who just want beautiful, meaningful photos without all the stress. The Details Matter

Before starting my own business, I worked as a second photographer for a wedding photography company, and that experience trained my eye to see what others might miss. I notice the details—the stray hair, the untucked pocket, the crumb on the corner of a toddler’s mouth. My approach is simple: I ask myself, “Would I want this photo of myself? My daughter?” If the answer isn’t a confident yes, I adjust, refine, and make sure we get the shot that you’ll love. Lexington has always felt like home to me. It’s where I met my husband, where I had my daughter, where I’ve built my closest friendships. And when it came time to brand my business, I knew I wanted to tie in my lifelong love for space. That’s how my logo was born—a little nod to the night sky and the passion that has shaped my journey. I’d love to help capture your family’s moments—both the big, beautiful portraits and the small, in-between ones that make life so special. If you’re looking for a laid-back, thoughtful photographer who truly cares about your memories, let’s chat.

As 2025 comes to a close, I’m feeling incredibly grateful.
This year was filled with growing families, quiet in-between moments, big milestones, and the kind of trust that never goes unnoticed.

Thank you to every family, senior, and couple who invited me into your lives and let me document your stories. You made this year meaningful in ways I’ll carry with me.

Here’s to closing the chapter on 2025 with a full heart and stepping into 2026 with intention, creativity, and so much excitement for what’s ahead.

🤍

This session will always hold a special place in my heart. 💛
This sweet family was my first truly organically found client. (no mutual friends, no referrals…) She found me through social media and trusted me with her family’s memories.

We met in the pines at Jacobson Park with kids, her sister, two dogs… and even a cat! (A first for me, and honestly such a fun surprise.) We had an absolute blast wandering through the trees together.

One of their sons was home from the military for just a short window, and we worked hard to make the timing perfect. Seeing them all together laughing, hugging, celebrating the season, made this session even more meaningful.

I love meeting new families, and sessions like this remind me exactly why I do what I do. ✨

Before I ever imagined starting my own photography business, I was a bride on the other side of Megan’s camera. Roughly a year later, when I reached out wanting to learn and grow, she gave me a chance and a place by her side.

Assisting .sweeting at weddings has been one of the biggest parts of my photography journey. She’s taught me more than she knows, encouraged me through every season, and has become a treasured friend.

Now, almost 8 years later, I’m stepping into my own brand while still getting to work with the person who helped me begin.

Megan, thank you for everything. You’re a gem. 💫

✨Sneak Peek✨(aka when fate had better plans)

We had another day and spot all picked out, but life (and the weather!) had a different idea, and I’m so glad it did. This sweet family and I ended up at Veterans Park in Lexington, and it turned out to be absolute perfection. The light showed up like it had been hired just for us, and every laugh and snuggle felt meant to be.

Sometimes the best moments are the ones that find you. 🌿💛

There’s something so special about senior sessions. Watching years of laughter, hard work, and growth shine through in one afternoon.

Jadyn’s session in downtown Lexington’s Gratz Park was filled with quiet confidence and joy. Every photo felt like a glimpse of who she’s becoming; strong, grounded, and ready for what’s next.

✨Sneak Peek Sunday: Post 2/2 ✨

There’s something timeless about quiet mornings spent at home. New baby snuggles, soft light through the window, and love that fills every corner.

This sweet in-home newborn session in Lexington, KY was pure serenity. Baby slept the entire time (a true dream model!) while we captured those tender, fleeting moments that pass too quickly. 💕

Grateful for new friends, play dates, and the trust to document their growing family’s story right where it began.

✨Sneak Peek Sunday: Post 1/2 ✨

Photographing friends is always such an honor, especially when it means capturing their family as it grows up.

This beautiful evening at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill was pure joy. We’ve shared so many seasons of life together, and getting to freeze these little moments. The laughter, the light, and the love between them felt extra special.

I’m so grateful for the chance to document these memories as both a friend and a Lexington family photographer.

Downtown Lexington always brings the texture + character ✨ Loved creating these moody portraits against the grit of the city. Every corner has a story, and sometimes the best shots come from just leaning into that raw energy.

✨ Sneak Peek ✨
Even though the calendar still says summer, this sweet family of four leaned into those cozy fall tones during their session at the beautiful Henry Clay Estate here in Lexington. 🍂

Looking back at these moments makes you wonder. When was the last time your family slowed down to capture a season together? Whether it’s golden summer light or crisp autumn colors, these chapters deserve to be remembered. 💛
