On May 5, 2026, at approximately 15:37, the Nicholasville Fire Department, alongside the Jessamine County Fire District, the City Mayor, the Nicholasville Police Department, and local citizens, officially welcomed the new 2026 Seagrave Engine 3. This new engine replaces a 2002 KME Excel, providing much-needed technological upgrades. Old Engine 3 will be placed in reserve status and will be reassigned as Engine 8.

Fire crews were very excited to finally see Engine 3 placed into service after a long process of coordination between administrative and manufacturer levels. Engine 3 is a 2026 Seagrave Marauder, powered by a Cummins X12 engine with 525 HP and equipped with a Waterous 1500 GPM single-stage CSU-type pump.

Some additional features of this apparatus include:
- 24" Front Bumper
- Whelen Engineering Company, Inc. LED Warning Lights
- Stainless Steel Pump Module and Pump Plumbing
- Stainless Steel Body
- 750 Gallon Water Tank
- 205.50" Wheelbase

Engine 3 will continue to serve the city of Nicholasville, but in a newer-looking rig! Engine 3 is housed at Station 3, which also accommodates Truck 3, Squad 3, and a shift command vehicle.
