Who says your bride and groom portraits have to happen on your wedding day? Doing them before or after the big day is an absolute game-changer!

Jess and Gage decided to skip the timeline rush and put their wedding attire back on for a quiet, hour-long portrait session completely free of wedding-day pressure. Let’s be honest—weddings can sometimes feel like they’re more for everyone else. By carving out this dedicated time, they got to focus entirely on each other. On the actual wedding day, we grabbed a few quick posed shots, but otherwise let them soak up every candid moment and actually enjoy being guests at their own wedding!

Let’s be real—getting everyone to sit still, look at the camera, and smile at the exact same second is practically impossible (and honestly, not all that fun anyway).

You don’t have to stress about whether the kids are going to cooperate, if dad is going to make silly faces, or if everyone is on their best behavior. Leave the pressure behind. My favorite sessions are the ones where we throw the rulebook out the window, let kids just be kids, and focus entirely on your real, unfiltered connection.

Because the messy, unposed, in-between moments? Those are the ones that actually tell your story. And those are always the truly beautiful ones. ✨

We ended up needing to change venues the day of for this engagement session and boy am I glad we did. Ainsley’s cafe was the PERFECT back drop. Amelia and Steven were so sweet and loving with one another and I am so glad I got to meet them. Congratulations you guys!!!
