Mama, if you’re anything like me, your phone is filled with images of sweet moments and all your lovely people. But there’s one thing missing.

You.

Introducing a limited offering: Motherhood Sessions.

$350 | 60 minutes | In-home
(Regular session rate $700)
Just a few spots available, March-April.

This isn’t a quick mini.

It’s a full hour in your real space.
Your couch. Your kitchen. Your backyard.

And it’s offered at nearly half my regular rate for Mother’s Day.

Because motherhood doesn’t fit into 15 tidy minutes.

I don’t want you lined up on the porch smiling at the camera the whole time.

I want the way your daughter leans into you when she’s tired.

The way your son interrupts mid-conversation because he needs you right now.

The way you move through your house like you’re holding a thousand details in your head at once.

You are the steady presence in the room.
The one who knows where the missing shoe is.
The one who hears the tone change before anyone else notices.
The one they look for first.

And most of the time, you’re the one taking the photo.

This session puts you inside the story.

The heart of it is simple: you and your children, exactly as you are in this season.

The unmade beds.
The snack crumbs.
The way they still ask to be carried even though they’re getting heavy.

The way your boy-man can rest his elbow on your shoulder now. The way your daughter still curls up beside you for a snuggle even though her limbs are nearly longer than yours.

The days feel long sometimes. Or maybe, they’re moving faster now, and you wish you could slow them down just a little.

Either way, they are not endless.

One day you’ll walk through the same rooms and they will feel bigger and quieter.

You’ll try to remember how small their hands were in yours.

Let’s make sure you don’t have to rely on memory alone.

If you’ve been waiting until things slow down or feel less chaotic, don’t.

This is the season worth documenting.

You deserve to be in the frame.

The ocean carries my heartsong, but in case you’re feeling a little fomo? Be encouraged. Not every spring break needs a suitcase.

Some of our best weeks have happened right here in Kansas City. Slow mornings. A random park stop. Sandwiches packed in five minutes. Staying out longer than we meant to.

KC in early spring feels hopeful. The trees are just starting to bud. One day you need a hoodie. The next day you’re squinting in the sun.

If you’re staying home this year, you’re not missing anything. You’re building the kind of memories that feel easy and real.

Are you traveling, or staying local?

Sent three galleries out the door early this morning; just two left before I’ll put my editing hat away for a few weeks. I love my job, but I’m ready for the change of pace the colder months bring. We lean into slower days, more handicrafts, read-alouds, and so much baking.

Do you take a winter break of sorts? What are your winter rhythms?

And that's a wrap! Finished my final session of 2025 yesterday afternoon with the sweetest little family in studio. This was a full year, and it was such a gift to welcome so many new families to the other side of my lens!

This week’s agenda: finish editing and delivering all final photos, get my house back in order, Christmas outings, and taking my kids to see the Nutcracker!

How will you spend your week?

❤️

As a Kansas City family photographer (and as a mom), I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard families say, “I wish we had more photos with Grandma and Grandpa.” The truth is, grandparents are a living link between generations, and including them in family photos isn’t just meaningful now…it becomes priceless later.

Grandparents often anchor families in ways that can’t be measured. They bring history, wisdom, and unconditional love. They bake the recipes that smell like childhood, tell stories from decades ago, and offer a kind of patience that only comes with time.

Photographs that include grandparents don’t just capture people; they capture legacy. They document the bond between generations and preserve it for the future.

Senior photos aren’t just about capturing how you look. They’re about telling the story of who you are right now. And what better way to set the tone than with the songs you can’t stop playing?

Music breaks the nerves. Most seniors feel a little awkward at first. A favorite song creates instant comfort.

It brings energy. Upbeat tracks add movement and playfulness to photos.

It reflects personality. Your playlist is part of your story. It’s what you’ll remember from senior year.

It creates memories. Years from now, hearing those songs will take you right back to this season of life.

One of the reasons I now love lifestyle newborn photography is because of how deeply personal those first weeks are. A studio can create beautiful images, but your home is where your baby’s story begins.

At-home newborn sessions capture life where it really happens:

rocking your baby in the nursery you carefully prepared,

snuggling on the couch in your favorite blanket,

siblings peeking into the bassinet for the first time.

And yes, sometimes the house is messy, or the baby only wants to be held, or someone is still in pajamas. But those are the very things that make the photos meaningful. They reflect the truth of your family in its earliest days.

Life with kids rarely happens in perfectly posed snapshots. It happens in the chaos, the silliness, and the tenderness between one “big” moment and the next.

They show true personality. That mischievous grin when your child thinks no one is watching? That’s who they are.

They tell your family’s story. The way you hold hands, laugh together, or comfort a tear. Those are the details that make your family unique.

They’re fleeting. Kids grow out of these little habits quickly. The way they cling to your leg or rest their head on your shoulder may not last forever, but a photo keeps it with you.

There are three reasons I believe traditions deserve to be photographed:

They show growth over time. Watching children revisit the same tradition year after year highlights how much they’ve grown. That pumpkin that once needed to be carried by Dad becomes one they can lift themselves. The way they stand tall amidst the sunflowers shifts ever so subtly, year after year.

They preserve the “ordinary.” What feels routine now will someday feel extraordinary. The way your kids pile onto the couch for a Christmas movie marathon may feel normal, but years from now, it will feel golden.

They connect generations. Maybe your parents read The Night Before Christmas to you, and now you read it to your own children. Photographing that tradition becomes a bridge between the past, present, and future.
