Silver Lake. I've wanted to capture an aerial of this lake for a while now so yesterday morning I decided to stop off and check the scene out. The water was still relatively calm at the time I arrived and the cloud cover was just starting to thin and break, but it still provided just enough cover to cut down on the harshness of the sun I was facing. What really stood out from this scene was the surface of the lake reflecting a little patch of blue sky through one of the few breaks in the clouds above!
Not a bad spot to capture from above! I will definitely be back again! 😃

A majority of the time I prefer capturing photos from above, however there are times when I like to stay grounded and capture subjects a little bit lower! 😃

Colorful sky immediately following sunset the other evening over Sokokis! Beautiful ending to what was a beautiful spring day!

Last month I decided to expand the fleet and picked up a DJI Air 3s. One of the main reasons was to have a dedicated platform for more involved video work, but also a second reliable unit where my Autel EVO 2 is aging and the control app is virtually irreplaceable if lost or deleted.
The Air 3s stood out as an affordable option offering a quality camera that would compare equally to my EVO. After 30 days I can honestly say that the still images from the Air 3s are far less superior and are quite disappointing than my EVO. Excessive noise in the shadows (and even the sky), at a low ISO require a lot more editing than my EVO photos and quite frankly, leave a good number of photos undeliverable.
I will obviously keep flying the Air 3s and learn it's operational limits to avoid capturing a low quality image. When I absolutely have to get the shot right and avoid any potential for an undeliverable image, I will only fly the EVO. However when the need for video arises, the Air 3s will likely be the go-to drone for the task.

Last time I captured this view it was after a fresh snowfall several months ago. I think I'm more partial to this view right here though! Green foliage, blossoming apple trees and blue water really seems more alive and inviting!

Aerial photography is a great way to emphasize the size or layout of a property, give a sense of placement of a property, highlight an event's attendance and even provide updates on property upgrades or development. While drones are readily available and easy to obtain and fly, many rules need to be followed to operate safely and legally and a valid remote pilot certificate needs to be held by the pilot for legal operation when it comes to commercial usage. If capturing aerials of your property is something you have though about, contact us today to see how we can help!
