I spend most of my life staring at people on a computer screen, so I promise I'm speaking the truth here.

Nearly everyone I meet has something to say about why they don't like getting their photo taken or why they don't think they look good in photos. I hear you. I feel you. I am you, honestly.

But here's what years of editing has taught me. Most faces are not symmetrical, and that is normal, not a flaw. Everyone can get a double chin in a photo, no matter their body type or size. It happens to the best of us. You'd be shocked at how many people have one eye that squints when they smile. And the hill I will die on: being "photogenic" is a myth.

So let's just acknowledge it. Feeling uncomfortable on camera is valid. Almost everyone I photograph feels this way walking in. But it doesn't have to stay that way.
I spend my days proving that over and over, to the same people, sometimes more than once before it clicks. I see the moment it happens. They look down at the screen after a shot and their whole face changes.
