Tick season is upon us, and as you may have seen, the population is even more dense this year… 👀… and each year the worries of lyme, alpha-gal, rocky mountain fever and more increases.
We spend a lot of time outside, and my little one goes to a nature pre-school a couple mornings a week, so we are definitely at risk of picking up ticks. BUT i refuse to live in fear. So instead I do my best to prevent bites in the first place. And if we do find one attached, (which we have found 3 now - 2 of which were so tiny they looked like freckles!!!) I have a plan for that too.
Comment TICK and I’ll send you the link to everything in my kit!
PREVENTION - the best thing we can do out and about is just be aware!
a natural deet-free tick & bug repellent - i really like the Murphy’s one, easily found at costco, target, amazon, etc.
nat-pat tick stickers
tick checks as soon as we’re done outside
lint roller over clothes
fine tooth comb to go through hair
throw clothes in the dryer on high heat for 5-10 minutes when you come inside and this will kill any hiding ticks so they’re not crawling out of your laundry baskets
POST BITE PROTOCOL
tweezers or tick key to remove the tick - don’t squeeze or twist, pull out by the head and be sure to get it all. -if you want you can put it in a bag and freeze it in case there is a reaction you can send it in for testing.
clean the site with magic molecule or any other hypochlorous acid solution, and then put a little andrographis on the bite
make a paste to draw out any toxins or bacteria left behind by the tick - i mix bentonite clay + andrographis - i apply to the bite site and leave on for 15 minutes and then wipe off
andrographis is an herb often used in immune support, especially after a tick bite
give homeopathy - ledum 200c 3x a day the first day, then once a day (but can give 3x a day for 5 days) - this one is meant to support the body in relieving insect bites & bruising
keep an eye on the bite and note any rashes or reactions, any changes in behavior
add in vitamin c to give the immune system an extra boost if you don’t already
