Often I have couples coming to me sharing their challenges of decision making.

Do we elope? Or do we have a wedding?

We love our families and friends, and would love to have them there, but also don't want the stress of planning a big wedding.

I'm starting to see more and more people do both. An intimate stress-free day, that is focused on them (and their closest people if they choose), then later on having a fun celebration.

Leanne and Jeff did just that. Their elopement day was absolutely perfect, and allowed them to fully be present and enjoy their celebration with the rest of their fav people.

There's so much I can say about these two. But if I had to use one word, it would be joy. Their goal was to let go of all expectations, and just enjoy every second of the day. And that's exactly what they did. They had so many laughs, tears, and constant smiles. Their love for one another was something I'll never forget.

The mindset shifts of being there to enjoy the day, focus on the nature that surrounds them, and the focus on quality time is what I am really cherishing about my job nowadays. It's so important. The days go by so fast, so it's cool to see them start to be prolonged and make full on weekend celebrations of them. The smiles, the laughs, the tears and just the pure joy. That's what I love to be able to capture.

Leanne and Jeff - it's been a long road but the wait was well worth it. Thank you for including me on this beautiful journey with you ❤️

Lily and Josh's day was my first elopement of the summer season, and we did alllll of the sweet summer things.

First, these two are truly just such a joy. Happy and kind, and so dang in love. They adventured, while also spending plenty of time at each location and doing every activity planned for their day.

First up - puzzle time! They LOVE doing puzzles together, so they spent the first half of their day finishing up their National Parks puzzle together, while they got ready for their day.

After they got dressed, they enjoyed their beautiful charcuterie board in the backyard by the river, where they played a game and relaxed in the shade, hiding from the hotttt sun.

Then it was time to adventure! We explored a waterfall, lake, then ended with their ceremony at Cathedral Ledge, where they had their fully secluded vows and finally got married ❤️

AND THEN (!!) we ended with the most delicious ice cream and views😍

These two made the absolute best out of their day together. So much quality time together, in a place that they love and doing all of the things they enjoy. The formula for the perfect day.

L&J thank you for letting me adventure with you and capture these moments for you two. It was just the best ❤️

We’ve been talking a lot about Acadia over here, but let’s not sleep on the White Mountains in the summer😍

I immediately think back to Meg + Richards day and how incredible it was. Horseback riding, epic views, and mac and cheese in the woods. What more could you ask for?!

Summer in the White Mountains means longer, sunny days. With more daylight, you have plenty of time to explore and enjoy your day to the fullest. Imagine waking up to the birds chirping, having your leisurely morning coffee, and still having plenty of time to hike to a stunning viewpoint, go on an adventure, exchange your vows, and have a picnic in the mountains without feeling rushed? Yeah, it’s pretty incredible. The extended daylight hours also allow for incredible sunset photos, and just more time to explore with your partner.

If you’ve been here a while, you KNOW how I feel about the Fall… BUT I must admit, summer has it’s major perks.

While the White Mountains have the most amazing fall foliage, summer actually offers a quieter, more peaceful atmosphere. By choosing a white mountain elopement in the summer, you have a better chance of avoiding crowds resulting in more privacy, easier access to popular spots, and a more relaxed overall experience before the hustle and bustle of peak tourist season ❤️

As the warmer months come, I'm getting so excited to be documenting in landscapes like these again. Forever inspired by our beautiful earth, my couples, and moments like these ❤️

I hope you enjoyed your weekend 🙂 Tom and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary, while doing house projects and being outside as much as possible.

What did you do this weekend?! 👇

What I think I love so much with how the wedding industry is going is that it's becoming less about the definition of an "elopement" vs a "wedding", and it's more about the feel of the day you're having.

Because to be quite honest, you could have either, and still have the most stress-free, relaxed day. I've seen it. But it's all about intentions and what you're hoping from your sweet day.

Emily and Eric are a great example of this. Em, one of my closest friends who I grew up with, expressed how easy she wanted the day to be. Stress free. Trusted in me to just capture the day as it unfolded. They both just wanted to get married and have their closest friends and family there to celebrate with them. That was the intention of having an intimate wedding day.

They had a small intimate ceremony with a select group, then friends and extended family flowed in afterwards as everyone ate delicious food, played lawn games, and danced for the rest of the night. In a full 8+ hour day, we spent about 20 minutes total for "photos". The day was about them, and about quality time.

These are the days I've fallen in love with. It's why I fell in love with elopements. I'm excited to see the mindsets shifting, and the "feel" of an elopement coming into the traditional wedding world. And I look forward to being a part of all of it.

Christina and Craig are SUCH gems, and I am so grateful for their friendship and ALL of the memories that we have made together, even prior to their elopement.

I will say though, their elopement day is one I’ll never forget. They decided to go with a two-day elopement so that they could spend intentional time together just the two of them, AND celebrate with their loved ones. On day 1, we got to the trailhead at 2AM and hiked up in the dark, which truly is one of my favorite times to hike. You never know what you’ll be greeted with at the summit!

We had the most epic sunrise with no one up there but us. It was magical. C+C took in the views, played a game, spent the morning together, and ate some amazing overnight oats made by Christina. After their morning in the mountains, they headed back home where some of their family and friends were waiting with a delicious brunch prepared. The celebrations continued over the weekend, where they had a backyard celebration filled with good food, good drinks, and lots of laughs. It was everything ❤️

Happy Mother’s day to all of the amazing mothers out there. Including those who are no longer with us, the mama’s to be, dog moms, step moms, grandma's, ALL of you❤️

And a huge shout out to all of my past and current brides who are soon to be, and current moms. I am SO excited to watch you all as you step into this role, because I know you are going to shower your children with so much love and adventure. They are already so lucky to have you.

Forever reminiscing on Beth + Kris’ epic 3-day elopement in Montana😍

While I primarily document in the Northeast, I also take on a few destinations each elopement season. Beth + Kris reached out about their intimate day, trying to decide between Maine and Montana - a place that was really special to Beth, but also a place that they had never been to before.

Beth's dad, who seemed to be such a wonderful, loving father, was born and raised in Montana. Since he had passed, Beth really wanted to be in a place that she felt he was there with them. So she ended up choosing one of my favorite locations to date.

These two had a clear vision on what they wanted their elopement to look like. They wanted to EXPERIENCE this full weekend. They opted for a full multi day elopement - my favorite 💁🏻‍♀️ They also offered me to stay with them and their families, and I am honestly SO glad that I did. I felt a part of the family, and it allowed me to really experience that weekend with my camera for them. And taking in every part of the scenery, the emotions, and all of the moments was my goal.

I also don't think I've laughed or smiled that much in one weekend in my entire life. I truly gained two incredible friends after this weekend.

It’s next to impossible to share all of the incredible moments from these three days, but here is a preview of what some of it looked like. Montana REALLY showed off, and I feel so incredibly lucky to have experienced it with these two❤️

And just a PSA - I am SO excited to be traveling out West this summer. I’ll be heading to Colorado for two weeks in August to adventure with another incredible couple. If you’re looking to elope, or just share an epic experience with your adventure partner, then I'd love to be the best adventure bud for you.

Getting ready photos… are they necessary? Let’s talk about it 👇🏻

This is a topic I’ve been chatting about quite a bit, and I want to talk about it from my perspective as an elopement photographer, and a married gal who CHERISHES these photos from our day.

When you’re getting ready for your big day, the excitement is unexplainable. There are SO many big emotions that you feel leading up to that highly anticipated moment. Think about it… the laughter, the nerves, the quiet moments of reflection. They ALL come together to create such beautiful raw emotions.

And trust me, when you're flipping through your photo album down the road, you'll be so glad you have those snapshots of the moments leading up to your "I do." These are sometimes the only moments you aren't together, so it's fun to look back on what each of you were doing or feelings during this time.

If you’re questioning whether you really need those “getting ready” photos, let me tell you, these are some of the moments you won’t want to forget. It's not about staging a photo shoot, and no you don’t need those details photos if you don’t want them, but it truly is about capturing the genuine candid emotions that you will look back on with a hugeeeee smile as you remember all those feelings.

And if you need any more convincing, just swipe through these incredibly raw and intimate moments from my couples + their loved ones🥹

Since we have a lot of new faces here, I thought it was time to do another formal introduction! 👇🏻

Hi friends! I’m Kels, an adventure elopement and intimate wedding photographer specializing in documenting couples best days in the outdoors.

My approach is centered around my couples and their experience. I want them to be able to feel comfortable, confident and present on their wedding days, while I simply document the emotions, love and beauty of their surroundings. I work incredibly hard to build a trusting and lasting relationship with my clients, with the goal of making them feel like I’m just an old friend joining them on their day 😌

From a photography standpoint, I specialize in landscapes, along with a mixture of the ‘real’ moments and a documentary feel. Basically, you get a little bit of everything in your galleries.

But I am also a LOT of other things outside of the business stuff...

⛰️I love hiking + traveling with my husband
🍂The Fall is my favorite time of the year
🥜🍇Peanut butter and jellys are my soul
🍁Real maple syrup is part of my personality
🙋🏻♀️I'm a pretty small human at 5'1
👋🏻I love meeting new people and trying new things

Alright now it’s your turn, tell me a little bit about you! 👇🏻

Let’s talk about the magic of full-day elopements👇🏻

Picture this: a day entirely dedicated to you and your partner, immersed in love and adventure from sunrise to sunset. With a full day elopement, you have the luxury of truly being present in every single moment, soaking in the beauty of your surroundings, and creating memories with your partner, and your loved ones. No rushing from one event to the next, just pure, uninterrupted bliss.

Your full day elopement can be anything you want it to be. But here's the best part… not only do you get to spend quality time with your partner, but if you choose, you can also have the opportunity to celebrate with your closest family and friends! Imagine exchanging vows in a breathtaking setting, just the two of you, and then later on, reuniting with family and friends for a celebration. It's the perfect blend of intimacy and community, where you get to share your love story in a way that feels authentic and meaningful.

Another perk of a full-day elopement? You have the freedom to explore and adventure to your heart's content. Whether it's hiking to a scenic overlook, going for a horseback ride, picnicking by a waterfall, or simply strolling hand in hand through your favorite mountain town, the day is yours to design exactly how YOU want it.

It's not JUST about saying "I do," it's about embracing every moment of your love story in a way that feels authentically yours. No constraints, no rules – just endless possibilities and a whole lot of love❤️
