I will always be passionate about maternity & newborn portraits.

Not just because I get to snuggle the little babies.
Not just because I get to help understand what’s happening inside his partner that’s she does not yet have words for.
Not just because I get to let moms know that everything happening inside them is normal and encourage them in a way that only a mom who’s been there could.
Not just because I get to pass on the knowledge I’ve learned about comforting babies, sleeping/feeding tips.

They’re a passion of mine because more than any other journey I’ve been on, motherhood has been the most beautiful.

Every age and stage will challenge you in new ways. And once you think you’ve got it down, it changes.
It challenges you in ways nothing else can.
To do it well requires you to constantly “look in the mirror” and deal with your own shortcomings so you can be the most authentic, grown version of yourself that your child needs.
And each one… they are different and need you to show up in a different way.

It’s a journey filled with emotion.
Ups and downs.
Constant grief due to the constant evolving as each year brings a new version of you and your child.

And there are days where you feel inadequate. Like you’re failing or have failed. And there are days where you will experience inexplicable hope and joy.

My advice… embrace them all.
Experience them all.
Each of them have something important to teach you about your child and yourself. 🤍

I’m not anti-AI. And I’m not a cynic when it comes to technology. AI offers a significant advantage in certain areas that increases efficiency, automates repetitive tasks, and offers 24/7 availability.

I am also not an enemy of technological progress. And I know AI isn’t going anywhere. All I’m asking is, can we please start using AI wisely? When we use AI wisely it can be used as a tool to amplify what humans are already doing. When used in this way, I view AI as progress. But when we use AI as replacement for human judgement, growth, learning, creativity, and empathy… that’s not progress… that’s danger. That’s regression.

Instead:
Go to a therapist.
Vent to a friend.
Pay an artist.
Do it yourself.
Learn to be patient.
Practice critical thinking.

Not to mention the havoc AI Data Centers wreak on the environment and our energy bills. So when I had the chance to attend and photograph a protest to putting a Data Center in my county, Logan County, I did.

I’m SO thankful to announce that tonight our local board agreed and they placed a one year moratorium on the proposed data center! 🙌

People ask me all the time why I don’t book “double header” weekends anymore (weddings on back to back days).

And the answer is honestly pretty simple:
because this job asks for so much more than just showing up with a camera. 📸

Wedding photography is physical, yes.
But it’s also emotional, creative, social, observant, problem-solving, story-telling work for 8–12+ hours straight.

I’m constantly creating.
Constantly noticing.
Constantly anticipating moments before they happen.

And creativity doesn’t always thrive when it’s running on fumes. 😅

I’ve learned that in order to serve my couples well, I need space to recharge between weddings. Space for my body to rest, my mind to quiet down, and my creativity to replenish so I can walk into the next wedding fully present instead of mentally surviving.

Because every couple deserves more than the “leftover” version of me. 🫶🏻

I want to arrive excited.
Inspired.
Patient.
Emotionally available.
Ready to create intentionally — not just mechanically.

So no, I don’t do double headers anymore.
Not because I can’t…
but because protecting my energy protects the experience I’m able to give my couples.
