It's my favorite time of year. The time when each spring over a half million Sandhill cranes congregate on Nebraska's Platte River. The Platte River Valley is the most important stopover on the cranes' long migration north from Texas, Oklahoma or Mexico. The region is so vital it has been designated an Important Bird Area of global significance. We are so fortunate to have it right here in our backyard! If you have never been you have time to plan it for their return usually late Feb-Early April and catch the amazing site.

I took this photo in 2017. It was an amazing and cold day in the canyon. It is always a disappointment when I wake up to a clear blue sky there. The day is lovely...the photos are not. This day threw it all at me and I loved every moment! To whomever nominated me for Lincoln's choice in photographer, thank you! What a shock and surprise. I'm not the normal person who "fits" this category but it was humbling that someone thought of me. You can find it under the services and housing catagory along with a lot of love to all of us at Coffey & Co. Each spring over a half million sandhill cranes congregate on Nebraska's Platte River. The Platte River Valley is the most important stopover on the cranes' long migration north from Texas, Oklahoma or Mexico. The region is so vital it has been designated an Important Bird Area of global significance. We are so fortunate to have it right here in our backyard! If you have never been you have time to see it and their return is NOW so you can still catch this amazing site. Today the count was about 160,000 and they are lessening each day.

I've been gone a minute. Covid has meant very little travel for me and I hope that's soon to change. Here is a memory of a glorious morning at the Avenue of the Giants In California looking through the giant redwoods in the early morning. Tonight, my heart breaks. Colorado is my home away from home..it is the place that calls me when my soul needs restoring and my mind craves a reset. It is the place where I took my young son time after time to celebrate birthday snowball fights in July, taught him to honor wildlife and be awed at the wonder of nature. Im praying hard for you tonight and all of please #2020 don't take this too.😢
