Suffolk County police shut down an alleged illegal street racing event in Farmingdale late Friday night.

According to investigators, officers responded to Central Avenue at approximately 11:40 p.m. and brought the gathering to an end.

Police arrested nine individuals, impounded 12 vehicles, and issued a total of 46 traffic summonses. Those arrested are expected to appear in First District Court in Central Islip at a future date.
